SPS help needed
« on: September 16, 2010, 08:27:24 pm »
I am new to the hobby and am making the newbie mistakes.  I have started a tank and got some SPS frags too early and they are struggling.  I am looking for someone that might have room in a frag tank to house them until I get my tank settled down and more mature.  All the tank parameters test good but there must be something going on that I am not testing for.  I have about 8 frags.  5 I would really like to save if possible.  If I leave them in my frag tank I think they will die in time.  If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

On another note,  How does one join the club?  Perhaps I could join and have a monthly meeting at my home and get some help with the new tank.  There is not much to look at just some sand, rock and a few fish.

Thanks
Floyd

Hey Floyd, nice to see you got it set up.  I wish I could help with the frags but I don't exactly have everything set up myself yet.  Post some pics, I'd like to see the cube setup.

i am new to this site and have a new tank. My frags that have survived have started to put on some nice growth, cant seem to figure out why some died and others thrive- same with fish, anemones etc. Maybe the system just needs time. Spendy though.

Some die because of rapid changes in light, flow, water parameters, people touching one coral and then putting a slime from another coral on new coral, coral warfare- touching, bad mix of softies and SPS. etc.

Sometimes corals starve from a lack of nutrients.

We are actually looking for a host for our October meeting.  You could join then - if you would be ready to host at this point, let us know so we can determine a date.

Most of my SPS did not make it.  I really think it is just new tank syndrome and things are not stable enough.  I can not make the Oct meeting due to family.  I could host the Nov meeting on the 19th if needed.
