January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Yours ain't bad there either Angel!  I see a coral beauty in there...I'm jealous!  I really wanted to add one, but  was afraid it wouldn't get along with the flame.   Embarrassed

My two got along fine!  They just need space to swim in and play on opposite sides of the tank. Even at feeding time they didn't bother each other.

Well I have this Red Sea berlin Skimmer that I have had for a long time and it has worked fine for what I needed.  I always had to tinker with the air and pump to keep it making foam though.  So the other day I was going through my box of misc fish stuff and found a rather nice Air Pump and decided to give it a try on the skimmer and WOW!!!!

What a difference the air pump makes!  I can see why so many folks go that route and add the air stone!  That maybe the next upgrade!

Got some other things planned to and so will keep everyone updated.

No air stone the skimmer went kaplunk so I bought a new one and now 350 bucks later I am happier than a clam. Grin  It is working great and I love it.

On another note my Bangai Cardinals had babies and I have three of them in the fuge.  They are eating cyclopeze and looking cute as ever.  I have never had fish babies in my SW tank, but have had Peppermint Shrimp babies in there.  Need to check the over flow and see if any ended up in there.

Wow - that is great Angel.  What kind of skimmer did you end up with then?  BTW, I had heard (or read somewhere) that Bangais were going to be on a "no catch" list at some point in the future (decreased numbers or something) so you have some valuable babies there probably.  How fun.  Can't wait to see you this week-end!!

FYI, not sure how accurate this report is, but I had heard it elsewhere and recently I read:  "The United Nations agency regulating the trade in endangered species, CITES, unveiled some 40 new government proposals for changes to wildlife trade rules ... Other fish species up for protection due to over-exploitation include ... .   A popular item in home aquariums, the striking tropical Bangai cardinal fish, is also a candidate for listing, because about 700,000 to 900,000 of them are collected every year."  source:  http://www.terradaily.com
