April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

John talked at the meeting last night about placing a group order from Shark Reef to give us a chance to evaluate quality and ordering process before placing an order for the Conference.

We'd like to put together a group buy for SPS coral colonies at a price of $35 per colony (Hey John - will shipping costs be added to this price ??)

The $35 price is based or ordering a box of 12 coral colonies, or we call fill out the order with fish, clams, or other livestock that Shark Reef currently has in stock.  Last time we were in, Shark Reef had some nice blue approx. 3- to 4-inch clams for $35 a piece, think they were crocea.  (John, can you ask Eric what kind he has when you talk to him the 18th?)  The clams had nice color and looked healthy, with no algae on the shells.

John will be in contact with Eric at Shark Reef this coming Tuesday and we will know at that time what specific species/colors are available to choose from.

Representative pictures of the coral colonies are attached below.

The sensible, thrifty side of me says that I don't even know what I'd be getting and how can I throw $35 (plus shipping?) at this sight unseen.  The rest of me says Oh boy, a surprise!  And such nice looking colonies in these pictures...

I'm in.

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

They really do look nice.  I'd be in for one of the blue clams if it was needed to fill out the order.  Otherwise, I think I'll just sit tight with what I have and watch everything carefully.

Bad news on the SPS front from Sharkreef.  H is still waiting on the permit and now it looks like may before he can get any. He is going to email me as soon as he gets the permit, and with that , the catalog of what he can order.  So this one is on hold, but we can still put together a Reeftopia order if there is interest.  Let ne know.
