April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

66 Ford is a girls car!  Really it belongs to my friend's girlfriend  Grin
I found the motor I am getting for the car though and it's not the RB it's the 2JZ from the Toyota Supra!!!!  (read the May Issue of Super Street for more details on this swap)  320-350 hp will make for a lot of fun times  Grin Grin Grin

So yeah Jeff it is a rice burner right now but wait until next year when it will be an "everything on the street burner!"

Awesome!   Shocked  The 2JZ can be modified to reliably make over 600 whp too...so if you do ever get bored...you definitely have options!   Grin  Congrats man, should be fun!

Yep, know they can make over 1000 pretty easy...was just saying, 500-600 very steet useable and daily drivable reliability is not at all uncommon for that motor.

Nice bling factor on the coolant tank.   Cool

Thanks Nate but right now with the stock motor taking it out would probably draw more attention and and less power than I want!  Thanks

Here are pics of the 180sx brake upgrade with the new rims and the fiberglass speaker box and amp rack I built.  And finally the Kouki Tail Lights I added.

Nice!  Brakes look good with those wheels.  Car is still nice and shiny too!  What do you have planned for go-fast stuff, or are you concentrating on the looks still?

I finally got the Talon running this year, got the thing tuned and running pretty well in August.  Didn't do much with it again until Oct. since I have been busting butt on the new tank.  FINALLY had a friend go out with me to get the last of the tuning done to eliminate the tiny bit of knock I was getting at about 5-6k rpm if I was on it hard.  We did about 3 pulls and managed to get it where I could pull clear through 2nd without knock.

The very next pull, I decided to see what it would do.  Mind you, I've not been driving this car, much less driving it in anger, in nearly 4 years with any kind of consistency.  Stupid me, I decide it'd be a good idea to flat-shift it...and missed 4th gear.  Went from 8000 rpm in 3rd gear back to 2nd gear, and somewhere in the neighborhood of 12000 rpm.  Doh!  Dropped a cylinder, threw a belt, but it stayed running...so I drove it the mile back to the house.  pop the hood, hear water boiling (water pump was on the belt that shredded), check temp and it's at 262, but it didn't boil out much coolant, and we have a separate oil cooler, so that shouldn't be much of a concern.  However, the hole in the valve cover where the roller rocker shot off the lifter/valve is a bit of a concern.  So, once the tank is finished, I will need to pull the valve cover off and see how things look.  I've read on the DSM boards it may just be a matter of putting the rockers back on and be good to go (hope it's that simple).  Just haven't had time to deal with it since the tank has been all-consuming lately.  Sure will be nice to have that up and running (more or less) this weekend!
