January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Some of you may have already read that we went on a shopping spree this weekend and got some new SPS for the new tank.  I've put pictures of everything (some you may have to guess what they are, because I don't know either!)

Go check out our gallery for the new pictures!

Here's our favorites right now:

WOW those are great! If you don't mind saying, how much did they set you back? If you don't want to say that’s cool. Where did you get them?

All 16 pieces, and some other stuff ended up just under $500.  The Robusta was the most spendy of the bunch at $65.  Most of them were in the $20-$35 range.  The little tiny nubbin of the Oregon Tort was $15.  The large staghorn/slimer was $28, and the large colony of Acropora Secale was $55 (but for twice the size of the $35 frag...why not?), we got a deal on the larger colony since we were getting so much stuff too.  We also got a 10% discount due to the large quantity ordered.  We bought these from Soutas Saltwater in Portland (not far from OMSI).

Nacho and I went to that place about 1 year ago and we thought the prices were pretty reasonable.   They have really clean tanks and nice coral.  Did you guys make the trip or did they send them to you?  Hopefully, we will be adding more soon.  We just need to find the time to make a road trip.

Very nice!

Here's the tank as it is right now, Left, middle, and right are the 3 pictures:

We went to the Shark Reef and got a few more things.  2 plates, brain, Midas blenny, blue centered zoos, Branching hammer, orange tube anemone, orange sponge and some other stuff I am forgetting I'm sure.  I highly recommend his shop.  The time we spent looking around, I saw only a single aptasia and a couple bubble algae (he had introduced emeralds to take care of that) in one tank, otherwise they were clean of any signs of trouble.

Isn't cool having a tank so big, you need three pics to show it? Roll Eyes

Absolutely beautiful Nate and Colleen great job you two!  Hey am I seeing shadows to the sides of the tank?  or is that just the pics because your avatar looks very bright?  Thanks for sharing

Good eyes my friend!  The two outside bulbs went off just as Colleen sat down with the tripod to take some shots.  She hopes to get some tonight with all the lights on though, so I will try to update again with some better shots.

Thanks for the encouragement!
