April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Pa
ul,

You may not need a chiller.  It all depends on what load you have on the tank, what temp you want to maintain and what the house temp (ambient) is.

Here is a link that has a calculator which will help you determine if you need a chiller, and if so, what size.

http://www.victran.com/form.html

Here are some decent chillers from ebay

Hope this helps

We never had to use a chiller on our 75.  We didn't have a sump, just hang on filter and skimmer, a single 250W MH, 4 actinic 46.5" VHO's and 2 icecap fans.  I never let the house get above 75F in the summer though.

I have a 400 mh on one end and a 175 mh on the other plus a 24" t8 actinic.  I try to keep the house below 75 but it doesnt always stay there.

rick your calculator came up with .41 hp does that sound right

That means you would need a 1/2 hp chiller which sounds a bit high since I ran my 240 with 2200 watts of light with a 1/2 hp chiller.  Granted it was not enough and ran nearly 100% of the time, but it did the job until it failed.

what did you enter for the different questions?
