January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Hi all - I'm hoping that my tank will be ready for a janitor order in the near future.  Is anyone looking to order more from Reeftopia, or is everyone sated?  I could probably handle the order (with some guidance from Nate) and take delivery, but I wouldn't want to risk anyones fish/critters in my tank if someone didn't show to pick up their order.

Thanks to John & Angela for the rock and sawtooth macroalgae!

I think we are good right now.  We were starting to get some hair algae growing when we started running all 3 of the MH's, but with 2 tangs in there now...it was gone OVERNIGHT!  Man I love fish that provide a service!   Grin

Marty, I'll be happy to help you along if the order goes though, I can tell you what I did (I'll send you my spreadsheet if you want it as well).

I'm still interested in a Reeftopia order, and it looks like John is as well.  Anyone else?

I'd like to place an order early next week, maybe Monday.  I'll take on placing the order, and taking delivery (unless someone else is itching to do it).  I think the lot prices are good after each break point is reached, so if people would just post what they want, and how many....

I'm thinking of delivery either Thursday or Friday (May 3rd or 4th).  Please let me know if one of those days doesn't work.

Yep, that is correct, lot prices hold above the breaks, so you don't have to try to hit right on the money.

What is everyone's experience with blue leg hermits?  I think I want some to help with hair algae, but I have heard good and bad regarding hermits.  I may want to order some with this order.  Also would like just a couple of nerite snails if anyone is ordering a bigger group.

Jeff - I can't really say anything about blue leg hermits from experience.  I've generally heard that people prefer the scarlet hermits because they're less likely to kill each other off.

So far, no one has given me any specifics on what they want to order.  I may just order the $99 "algae control critters special."  I'm glad to pull together a larger order, but I need to know what people want.

Hey Marty- I really need to do an order but I hate to order and then move my tank to the new stand, etc,....and smash everything. I will have to take the rock out for Rick to make my tank quieter etc....so I think I will need to hold off until that is done. But, trust me....I NEED snails and peppermint shrimp BAD!!!!!!!

Also, Jeff----the blue hermits do kill each other off and your snails, too. So, just be ready for that. At least that is what happened with mine. I have ONLY scarlets now.

Just my .02 cents.

Blue leg hermits are very aggressive.  When they get large they will go after anything that moves, snails, small sick fish etc.  The scarlets typically do not go after the snails.

Am I the only one that jumped on the band wagon with you?  What do I owe and when is a good time to pick up?  Would sometime during the day Friday work?  I can do it Thursday evening, but Friday would be way better for me.

Jeff - Thursday or Friday is fine.  If you are going to wait until Friday, I'll probably put the hermits in my tank, and we can fish a couple out when you come.  That means they'll have to adjust to 2 water changes...

Let me know.  I'll send a message with my address and contact info.
