Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

I have run in to a very unfortunate set of circumstances. Like really pretty poopy. Me and my wife have one car that we have been sharing and it went poof. Like needs new engine poof ($3200 to fix! not going to happen). So we need to buy another car, but we need to do so outright, not financed. Anyway, we need to come up with some money rather quickly and about the only thing we have to sell are fish and tanks. I am very sad to do this, but we need to be able to get to work, so priorities... I am by no means getting out of the hobby, but I need to get some money, so I am going to sell several tanks. They will be full setups and such. I will try to get pictures soon, but I only want to sell full setups, and the whole stand/shelf thing too would be cool. Here we go for the tanks without fish:
30 breeder (36Lx18Wx12H)with HOB filters and heater
20 high with heater and sponge filter w/ air pump
3 10s with sponge filters and air pumps

With fish (includes HOB filter, heater, light, and top):
30 Long with 2 L ocellatus, 2 C. sp. "ndobnoi" and 3 S. petricola
20 long with baby bristlenose plecos and a big crypticoryne and MTSnails
37 planted with 6 cardinal tetras, 6 rummynose tetras, 2 striated botias, mated pair of bristlenose plecos, 2 M. boesemani rainbows, 1 SAE, 6 Corydoras aeneus, 130w CF light, and fluorite substrate. Also includes wrought iron stand.
75 (this one pains me greatly) with 1 Haplochromis sp. 44 female, mated pair of J. marlieri, 1 N. buescheri, and a few c. afra X p. saulosi hybrids.
10 with platies and a clown pleco

I am still keeping my 85 mbuna, 20 gallon saltwater, and 75 gallon W. african tanks. I will get more someday when I get out of debt and get out of this stoopid situation. Anyway, make me offers if you're interested. I may be able to take some of the smaller stuff to the Tri-Cities, but not the bigger tanks. I will sell the fish separate from the tanks I think, but I don't want to part out the tank setups. Again, pics will come soon.

Embarrassed Sorry to hear about your situation. Steve and I have been in the same boat many times. Keep your head up though, you will come through. Sorry we can't help out and buy anything right now, but we do have a few friends who keep saying they want to start a saltwater tank. We will ask them if they are interested in buying from you.

Good Luck  Undecided

Man I have been ther my self a time or two.  Can you find the motor for cheaper locally?  A motor swap isn't that hard (been there too).  I was quoted over 5grand to replace the motor in my wife's 2000 Hyundai.  I said no way and found a motor on line for $350 with shipping.  I got it done myself and saved a ton of money.  I am sure there are folks on here that could help too.  If I was there I would love to I love wrenching Grin

I have worked on cars, some, but not enough to do a motor on my own.  I also don't have a place to do it because I live in an apartment.  Thanks for the kind words. Smiley

Angel has a great idea because most places are getting you for the labor which is the larger percentage of what they charge.  Do you mind if I ask what kind of car you have because Nacho has a friend that rebuilds motors and is always working on cars in his spare time?  He may even have one laying around, who knows.

Yeah, labor is ridiculous!  the dealer charges $80/hr.  I found a motor on ebay for around $800 shipped, but I am not going to get it at this point.  I just don't have a place to do the work.  Argh.

It's a 2004 Kia Rio.

Just because you don't have a place to do the work doesn't mean someone else doesn't.  Any one here have a garge that they donate for the new motor project?  Let's a build meeting?  Shouldn't take more than a weekend!

heheh, Angel, I love your enthusiasm. Smiley  I don't have the money at this point either because of buying another car.  I may have money to do it this summer though...

Thanks Jeff if I was there i'd be all over it.  I have done several motor swaps in my time and I know I could help.  Plus I had a place to do that when I was there.
