Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

We saw one of the peppermint shrimp last night. I think the other one died. He didn't look right when we got him in the first place. It was small and all white. Is that normal? Do they turn red as they grow?

Nope, the are clearish with red stripes the whole time.  The bigger red ones with white spots are fire shrimp.

The one I posted above looked pretty gray, with no red when I was sorting them out of the bag.

That's what both of mine looked like when I got them (which was from two separate orders).  They seem to be doing just fine though.

Well, I hope it was just stressed. It could still be in there and we just have not seen it yet.

We got three and we've seen them all come out so ours are good so far.  When we had the 55, I didn't even know we had a pistol or watchman because we never seen them and now they have the front seat and we see them all the time.  We also see our spiny lobster more ofter now so moving to a bigger tank was a good thing.

Julia,
This usually works for me when I want to see my peppermint shrimp.   I feed right before my lights go out.      I come back a hour or so later and use my flash light to see pods and my shrimp.

Adelaide Rhodes showed me how to feed my pods.    Funny how it works for  some shrimp too.

my peppermint shrimp are out and about quite a bit when the lights are on.  As soon as I drop food in they come out and scurry all over the place.

Thanks Ed. I'll try that. I can see the shrimp right now, I found his hiding spot. As I said before, one died and now we think one of the chromis died too. All of a sudden he was just gone!  Huh The tank looks great, were doing regular water changes, but we can't find him. About three days ago he was hiding in a corner (the biggest of the three chromis has been aggresive to the other two chromis) then the next morning we could not find him, and still can't. I think he died and is under a rock somewhere.  Undecided
