January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Hey everyone,
A few weeks ago I moved my 10 gallon reef to a 20 gallon tank.  Now I need more snails.  The 5 I have are not able to take care of everything in the new tank.  If anyone else is interested, I would like to be a part of a group order to reeftopia.com.  let me know if any of you are interested.  Thanks!

Jeff,

If you can hang on till the next meeting, it is sometimes easier to get people to order if we tie it into a meeting.  Just a suggestion.

We can go on this too, as we intend to order a TON of new critters for our new tank!  We hope to be getting things in next Friday (23rd), if this will work, we can get you info on what all we want, or could even place the order and have things at our place to pick up.  Colleen will be off all day next Friday.  If this doesn't work timing-wise with everyone, we'll just place an order of our own.

I am in need of a bunch of things, too, and was planning an order soon.

Do I hear we have a volunteer to handle the order and disbursement?

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

Well it seems there is a lot of interest in an order. Dashia, would the 23rd work for you, that is a little over a week away. Nate, the 23rd would work for us, and since you offered to place the order and you seem to be ordering the most it might be good to have it sent to your house. Let us all know. Thanks!  Julia

P.S. Dashia, you weren't at the meeting. I had to harass Les by myself  Grin

Well, at least if we do the order, I know I'll actually get in on it this time!   Tongue  I've already contacted Reeftopia to get the appropriate forms for the group buy.  We will handle the order and disbursement.  Please PM me contact info and quantity of each item you wish to have ordered.  ORDER CUTOFF TIME IS TUESDAY 7:00 PM FEB. 20TH!!!  We will have things delivered to us in Kennewick next Friday (23rd).  Please plan to stop over to get them sometime durring the day/evening either Friday or Saturday before 5 PM.  When you PM me, I'll PM back with confirmation of receipt and my cell number so you can contact me for pick-up.

Here's the info I got from Reeftopia, looks like pick-up should try to be Friday if possible.

Quote from: reeftopia

We are happy to work with group orders. As far as discounts go now that we offer the lot prices on items we can only offer the 10% discount on orders placed online that are over $200.00. The astrae snails are 48 cents each in 100 lots, in 300 lots they are 45 cents each and then you still get an additional 10% off on orders over $200.00 that are placed online.
We prefer online orders because of the accuracy of the order, credit card #s, shipping, and billing information.
This is what we can do to make them easier. All items can pack in quantities according to each persons order with the amount written on each bag but not the person’s name. We prefer to split into quantities ordered for the well being of the critters. The critters can wait for acclimation until early evening as long as they have been kept in a dark, cool temperature control area without being opened. Waiting is better than going though an additional acclimation.
When  order online there is a comment area at the very end of the check out process, there you can give us comments or additional information like the bag splits. An example of how to write them so it is clear to us would be;
Astrae snails....50-50-50-75-12-12-24-27 = 300
Peppermint Shrimp...6-6-4-8 = 24
Make sure the count matches the total ordered.

Please make sure that everyone that is participating in the group order can pick up on the evening of the arrival of the shipment. Earlier in the day is better but that evening is the latest everything can be distributed for our guarantee to apply.

oooh, I want to get in on this too.

does anyone else need nassarius vibex snails?  they eat leftovers and detritus and stuff.  They sell them in lots of 12 and I only want 6.  I would love to split an order of them.  Also, if someone is getting a group of 4 peppermint shrimp for $12 and wants to split, I would like one.  Thanks for putting this together Nate!

I'm placing this order and I know that we need about 300 + snails so I will take the additional 70 Turbo snails from Jewels order plus 200 more of the same and also the 3 peppermint shrimp from Jeffs order.  We got some other snails already so this should be enough for now.  Is it recommended to have a variety of snails or will 270 turbo snails do the cleanup job. My cell is 539-0146, so you can call me when they arrive since I'm the lucky one that has to pay and pick up. Smiley

Thanks, this makes it much easier.
