Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Mike O,
I am looking at a Aquanetics UV.   My question is...Does your UV say on the bulb if it is germicidal or not?   The germicidal bulbs I have bought before were from Ushio.   I was wondering.   Sometimes bulbs do not say germicidal sometimes they do.   I am looking at a 30 watt in line UV from Aquanetics.   The length of this unit is 38 inches.  Can anyone help me with this?   I will try to contact Aquanetics or Ushio.

I'm Back...

Yes my bulb says germicidal on it..  I have the 25w one.  a 30 might be a little overkill for a 100 gal or less tank.  Aren't they rated for 200 or more gallons.  I have heard pros and cons on running a UV.  The cons are that they kill all the benificial algea and stuff in the water that the coral eat.  I have my UV hooked up splitting my return line right now.  So it only nukes about 1/3 or the water returning to my tank.  Also I think I will only run mine till I'm sure that Ich has cleared up.

Thanks
Mike

Mike,
I will hook mine up so it recirculates in my sump.   Now if I can just land one of those UVs on Ebay, I will be ready to go.  Thanks again,
see ya on Thursday,
Ed

I want to know if it will help cut down on the algae on the tank glass. If it does, I want one. If it doesn't I don't.
