April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Do snails or bristleworms or brittle stars or any other common hitchhikers eat green star polyp?  I came home tonight and something has torn a path through my freakin GSP!  I have nerite snails, cerith snails, a turbo snail, an abalone (I think?), and some bristleworms.  Anyone have ideas on this?  thanks.

I hadn't heard of this before so I am just tagging along to see what it is.  Where are they located in your tank?

They are on the top of a rock about 5 inches from the surface of the water, right under the light.  There hasn't been any deterioration, they have actually been spreading, but now there are two chunks missing.

You need to move them down further from the light.  That's how mine died, when I moved them towards the top.  They are fine for a little while but then they tend to get sun burned from the lights being that close.  Try moving them down and see what happens?

I've only got 48 watts of PC light though... could they still be getting burned?

Also - correction: It's not an abalone.  I don't know why I thought it was.  The thing I was referring to is a black turbo snail.

Not sure but it is possible.  Has it gotten worse?  If so I would plan to check on the tank in the middle of the night with a red light to see if anything is there that shouldn't be.  The only thing I can think of would be a bristle worm but they aren't always bad enough to eat GSPs.
