January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Working as one to promote anyone willing to learn

A little water from my sump got to my Tunze powerhead electronics.    So I have one Tunze working now.   That being a Tunze 6000.     This happened Thursday.    I heard a noise.    I opened my stand doors and touched the electronics, only to get a pretty good shock.    I unpluggged all the Tunzes.   Now only one Tunze is working.
So I am using a maxi jet Mod and one Tunze to move water.   I do have the return going still at close to 2000 gph.   I am schocked to say, that my corals, clams and fish are all doing well so far.
Anthony C from Reef Exotics has been super.   That is the person I bought my Tunzes from.    He is shipping parts from his Store until Tunze helps with my big Powerheads.    In Two days I will have considerable more flow again.    I have been collecting the rarest corals I can find this year.   I have Pulchras, Turanki, Purple (blue) prostrata, three purple Millis (Jeff Lee gave me one), green milli, rose milli, three torts,   I have cali and oregon now again.    4 clams, a squami, derasa, crocea, gigas.
Is flow that importantant?    I know it is.   It keeps things suspended in the water colum, it helps feed the corals, clean your tank.
How long can we go with out a large amount of flow?   I hope  not to learn.

Sounds like you let the smoke out of your Tunzes.  I hope everything survives.  It's good to have great vendor support.

Thanks Rick  Cheesy    I should have parts by Tuesday according to Fed EX shipping.   I have been dosing calcium.   So I think that may have complicated things also.

I am glad that you were home to catch it, it could have been worse.  I am glad you are back heading in the right direction and I hope the tank gets back up to 100% flow soon.  You have to post pics I would love to see those rare corals.   The LFS has one called a Purple Monster but I have read that there are a lot of fake imitations so I am not sure how to tell the real deal and would hate spend $100 on it if it is only worth $10.
