Well, Virginia is very humid and having a 150g fish tank in the living room doesn't help.  So, we bought a dehumidifier for the living room.  It holds 50 liters of water so when I got I set it up to run 4 hours on and 4 hours off at 50% humidity level.  It was full in less than a day!   I have to empty it our daily.  It came with an attachment to run it to a hose outside so i may do that.  The house stays cooler though with the drier air (atleast in the living room).
