April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Hey, we noticed this little guy crawling on the inside of the tank today - just got our live rock yesterday and don't know if this is a keeper or a parasite.  It is our first "critter" in the tank that we know of but maybe it is something nasty?  It is about 1/2" long, looks like a slug of some kind - no shell, but has a worm-like body, a mushy white "mouth" and two "antennae" on the head.  There is only one - the other is the reflection.  It is pretty fast, relatively speaking, as it slithers along the side of the tank.  Pictures are not very good - but if anyone knows what this is, can you tell us?  More importantly - do we leave it alone or scoop it out and get rid of it?  Thanks.

Can't really see the picture but it might be a stomatela snail.  They look like slugs but actually have a shell that is flat on their backs.  Very fast movers but totally reef safe.

I couldn't get a very good angle for the picture and he is out of sight now.  If he comes within view again, I'll try to get a closer picture, but I don't remember seeing anything that looks like a shell on his back.  I hope this is the reef-safe guy that you are talking about.  Thanks Angel!

It might be some sort of nudibranch too.  Again, would need a closer-up picture to be able to say for sure.

Thanks Nate. Others have suggested that as well.  The LR came out of a tank that has nudibranchs (also sea hares) so maybe that is what it is.  We haven't seen it since taking the photo, so it is either hiding in the rock or it died  - we will keep watching for it and try to get a better photo.  Thanks again.

we had one hitchhike in with our toadstool or torch coral (bought them at the same time at same shop).  Next thing we know, there's this black thing with ruffles and horns sliding around in the tank!  It was a bit freaky.  Good luck figuring out what it is for sure.  Keep us posted if you get a posititve ID.
