April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Well I finally changed some of the bulbs on my tank last night. I installed two of the Reef Flux 10k bulbs. I gotta say, wow, what a differance. These bulbs really bring out the blues and purple's. That purple tip A. nana was sorta washed out before now the purple reaches out and grabs your eye. That blue A. Tenius that Jeff picked up for me last November just shimmers under these bulbs. I hope that these keep their color after burn in. Some people on Reef Frontiers have had them go pink on them. I will keep everyone posted though.

Where did you get them from and how much did you pay if you don't mind my asking?  I am going to change out the 20ks to 10ks when I get the tank moved.  Thanks

Thanks for the info on the phone Les i appreciate it.  I did some research on these and found an article by Sanjay Joshi (Rick's favorite light guru).  The link is http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2005/5/aafeature is anyone is interested in what he had to say.

Sanjay says "The Coralvue Reeflux 10000K is a rather interesting lamp, which should have a more appealing look given that it has the large spike at 452 nm which is typical of the “20000K” lamps but has additional peaks at 534, 588 and 670 nm which should help in “whitening” the appearance of the lamp.  The 250W lamp had a correlated color temperature ranging from 10093K- 17060K depending on the ballast used.  The 400W lamp has a very similar spectral profile but with different spectral irradiance the software was unable to compute the CCT for this lamp."

It seems like these lights are the new rave.  I'm convince and will be buying these too.

Hi Les and gang good to read about the new Reef Flux bulbs being such a hit.  Cheesy
Are they just a single ended bulb? Or can you order them double ended :?:

Can you run Reef Flux on a HQI Ballest?
Les i know you run 400's are they made in 250 watts :?:

Can you post a picture of before and after  :?:

Good to hear from you Jeff.  If you read Angel's earlier post and the article from Sanjay you will find your answers.

No problem Jeff, but I am sorry to hear they don't make the double ended bulbs.  I hope you find some good double ended ones though.

Thanks Angel I have been getiing good luck with my last set of bulbs They are Aqua Medic made in  Bissendorf Germany I have been using the 20 K Rated bulbs with great success Then again I don't think you can go wrong when you have 2 each 250 watt halides in a Nano 75 gallon tank that is only 18" deep The sps seems to do well in all areas of the Tank I just wish My Acroporas would grow at the rate of my Milleporas
Well enought with hi-jacking Les's thread When I run out of my single ended 14 K  Hamiltons, I plan on trying a Reef Flux 10k bulb In my center fixture

Well I finally bought the reeflux 10ks and I have to say I am very impressed with them so far.  I found a store that carries them here.  A little pricey but more convenient than shipping.  The tank is up and running and cycling so pretty soon I will be having babies sent to me.  Cheesy
