January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Hi everyone.   The news reports that Darrel and Vicki must have fallen off the face of the earth are greatly exaggerated.  We have just been extremely busy and I haven't been on the computer much lately.  However, we are still "into" the reef hobby and making good progress on our tank.  It is in the house, full of (tap) water, no more leaks (we had a few minor bulkhead leaks to deal with).  Everything is running great and Darrel installed the UV sterilizer last week-end and we just ordered a Neptune Aqua 3 controller (yes, we had to go and rob a bank first -   ).  The next step is to install the lights into the canopy - we are trying to find some of that extruded aluminium framing (Les - we need to talk to you about that).  After the lighting is done, we will be ready to mix up some salt water and order some live rock!  (Again, Les, may need to discuss borrowing the LRCT!).   So, we are getting closer to actually having fish etc at some point!  Exciting.  It is going to be such a nice system - Darrel has really "nukified" the plumbing - and it will be worth the wait when we are done...I can't wait!    We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Dec. meeting!   Cheesy  Cheesy    See you then!

Here are a couple pictures showing the progress we've made.  The back of the tank is still in a bit of a mess because the tank is out in the middle of the floor in the breakfast nook area of our kitchen.  Once we get this all done, it will be pushed back into a niche (we may have to oil up the walls to get it to fit - it is pretty tight!) and some of the plumbing and most of the wiring then passes through the wall via a dog door (should be a fish door I guess   ) and into the equipment closet in our home office (yes, I finally convinced Darrel that this equipment would not all fit under the tank inside the stand and we 'breached' the wall!).   Anyway, thought you might like to see the most recent pics.   Again, looking forward to seeing everyone at the Dec. meeting!   Cheesy

Wow, I would be excited about that too.  It looks like a lot of work was put into that set up so it should be worth the wait.

It looks great and we can't wait to check it out when all is said and done.

Looks good Vicki, and yes you can borrow the LRCT.
As to the aluminum 80/20 stuff you mentioned, I have found something I like better and not quite as spendy. I have started using aluminum miter track you can buy for building router tables. You can get it with slider piece that holds the light well and allows you to move it out of the way some. http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/routacc2.html#combo_Ttrack_anchor
This is where I have purchased it from though there may be other venders out there. Look under the miter T track and T bar.
