April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Yes all the fish made the trip fine.  And today everyone was out to eat even the skunk cleaner shrimp.  The shrimp even molted!

Paul,

I don't know the name of the coral, it is a staghorn type of acro, brown stalks with bright blue on new growth.  Under the actinics the brown shows up as green.  It is a fairly fast growing coral.

Well I found out that one of the corals I bought is known as a Richmond Tri Color and there are two varieties.  One is an Acro the other a Bali.  I am posting the pic of my acro.  As you all know my camera isn't the greatest so the pic doesn't do it justice pertaining to color.

Rick I have a nice size frag that I got browned out.  I am going to see if it colors back up then I am sending it to you.  Cheesy   If not I will get you a piece of mine when it gets bigger.  It is already starting to branch out.

The other pic is of the candy cane Rick sent me which has two new heads on it already.

And to think the yellow porite on the right I got from Ed and it was the size of a small marble!

The other pic is of an Orange Cap mounted on a Frag Mag.  These things are pretty popular over here.  You mount a frag on it and put it in the tank.  Take the other magnet and stick the frag to the side of the tank.  Plus you can move it if you don't like where it is located.

The rest are pics of how things are coming along.

By the way as I was attmpting to remove the plug that the tort came on it shattered   and a lot of the branches came off so now I have two other little rocks with several branches on each for frags when they grow in.

Ok now I have made some mods to the sump.  The first is an auto top off that I put together based on a drawing on a napkin that Rick did for me.  And it works great.  It has a float valve for the top off and a float switch witha selenoid to shut water off should the float valve fail.  All for less than $100.00 !

The second set is a fuge box I had built to fit in the sump so I could slow the flow through it.

Enjoy, I know I did and it was so easy to do.

Here is a picture of my latest addition, a Blastomossa Merleti.  The last pic is of my Red Millepora but the interesting thing is it seems to be killing the coralline algae around it as it grows (notice the white rock around the bottom) and I was wondering if anyone has seen this before?

Well enjoy.
