24" hood
« on: October 19, 2005, 01:05:58 PM »
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone out there has a 24" hood I could use. I have one but my bulb is not lighting (it is pretty new) so I am not sure if the bulb is bad or the light fixture. I would like to plug my bulb into one and see if it works. If it doesn't, I will buy a new bulb. If it does, I will try to talk you into borrowing it for a month     It is for my quarantine tank.

Thanks.

I have one that fits a 29.  I belive it is 30" long, but would work for what you need.

Does the hood have a starter for the lights?  If that's burnt out....only a $3 fix.

Dashia,
If you take your Light to Aqua Tropics or Amazon Bay they will most likely have a ignitor for your lights.   They are pretty cheap.  Bait may be right on the money.   I bet Aqua Tropics or Amazon Bay will put it in for you also.   Its as easy as screwing in a light bulb.
Dashia,
If you push the bottun on your light switch and look at this other silver object on your light fixture(which looks like a quarter sized  button with hole in center when installed)  it will flicker.   If it does not flicker it is most likely burnt out.

I hope this helps,
Ed :D
come over and see..:)

Dashia,

Watch what kind of starter you have for that light.  I ran into the same probem with mine, and if the starter looks like a small christmas tree light, I haven't been able to find one in town. My  lighting is a two strip 18" flouresant from an Eclipse 29 system.  If anyone out there knows where I can get one of these type starters, please let me know.  Dashia good luck.

Well I was going to say something but after typing it I decided to delete it and be nice, or at least not so mean. So guess I just won't say anything at all. :D
