April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

I am looking for a PC ballast. Looks like one of the ones I got does not work. Is there anyone out there that has one they are not in need of any longer? Thanks.

Les,
How much is it? You don't even want to hear what happened! I had a small fire under my canopy about an hour after I put the bulbs in I got from you. I think I need new bulbs, too. Frickanay man.

The price will be half of new. (I have to look it up)

But I have to ask, how do you start a fire under your canopy?
And then, what did you use to put it out?

I'm sure that it's not very nice to laugh but I can't seem to stop. I have this picture in my head of you in panic mode screaming at Mike to "DO SOMETHING".

But that being said, I am very sorry for your misfortune and I hope to God that everyone and everything is alright with no lasting injuries or problems. I am more than willing to help in any way that I can, you have but to ask. In fact because I am such a nice guy, (and feel bad for laughing my a... off)  you can have that ballast. But maybe it would be better for all concerned if I were to come over and install/wire it though.

I DID NOT SAY THAT RICK CAN'T WIRE THINGS.
However, I do seem to recall a ballast that he wired up for the coral tanks and promply let all the smoke out of it.
For those of you that do not know, all electrical things have from the factory a certain amount of smoke in them. When you let the smoke out, they no longer work. Sometimes though, you can get by just letting some of the smoke out without total failure, but not very often.

are you sure you didn't say that Les?  I am just makin' sure...tee hee tee hee tee hee
So, are ya gonna come see if only "some" of the smoke was let out?
Maybe with any luck, all is not lost? I would hate it if I bought those lights from you and then fried them in a matter of minutes!

On a serious note, thanks Les.

Hahahahahahahah ROTFLMAO!!!!

Anyway letting the smoke out is a very serious and important part of reef keeping.  I should know my wall socket let a bunch of smoke out today!  It was the GFI from what the electrician said.  Bad connection or something!  He said lucky for me that the fire protector box held the fire in the box and it didn't travel into the wall and burn the place down!  It's not even a socket that I have any tank stuff on!  Well go figure after two floods in a week and a half you would think I have all the smoke out!

Les can you come over and let some smoke out of my system? Cheesy

Angel,
I am so glad that you find humor in my misfortune!  Hopefully it will all still work out! I never heard of the "smoke" thing before. Go figure, I know!

Wow - with all these horror stories, and our tank still sitting in the garage with neither water nor electricity to it - hmmm...maybe it isn't too late to buy a large bird instead?  Nope, Darrel says we are too far into this thing to turn back now...I sure am thankful I know some good folks who will help us out if we have a flood...fire in the canopy...leaks...dogs tripping off the power...what else?  Hurricane Rita isn't headed this way is it?
