Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Hey everyone - I'm looking for a protein skimmer that I can get my hands on as soon as possible.  Nothing too big; it'll only be handling about 60G of water, but I'd like something as effective as possible at pulling out gunk.  All offers welcome; sump, hang-on, or external will all be considered since the system is ad hoc and temporary.

If I can't get anything by the end of the week I'll look to purchase from a retailer.

Also, anyone looking for a 95 G tall with custom hood and stand (built in sump, skimmer, PC-suplemented 10K halide) let me know.  I'll post more on this in future.

Thanks.

Saw that skimmer myself of Ed's last night. That's a nice one. It has to be worth over $200. If I had the money I would have bought it from him myself.

Ed told me that IAP quoted over $350.00 so yeah it is a very nice skimmer.

I will sell it for $150 for anyone in the local club.    I have not heard from IAP on how large of a tank it would run.    I was thinking it would do a 200 gallon tank.   I saw it takes a pump with  900-1200 gallons per hour to run.

Ed, have you got any more information on that skimmer of yours?  It's overrated for this short-term need, but I might be interested for the larger system I'm putting together.

I just heard from Brian at IAP.   He said to compare it to the My Reef Creations skimmer.    Brians (IAP) is larger though so it would work better.     Brian said the skimmer should be able to do a 200 gallon tank easily.   He said the MRC skimmer is rated for 200 gallons and is smaller.  You will need a pump that pushes about a 1000 gph - 1200 gph.   Brian recommended the GSNx something 4100.
Brian told me he would not sell this for less than $250, and said I could easily get that.    I will stick with what I offered to  local club members, if no one buys it local I willl ask for 250 like Brian said.
hope that answers your questions,
Ed

Man, now I'd feel bad taking it for $150...
Of course, it's better than what Angel was offering
Hmmm, guess I need to see how much a pump to drive it would set me back.

If psa doesn't buy the skimmer from you, I am interested in it for my 125 I'm planning to set up at a later date.

I have a pump that would handle it and no it's not the one that I won that could probably handle a river.

Paul, we poor people have to try and wheel and deal.  Besides after Ed told me what it could handles I knew it was big enough for my tank. Now my offer drops to $35.00 and a cookie! Cheesy
