Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

hey I am looking at purchasing a new chiller in the next couple months.  I am borrowing one right now.  Anyway I was looking at a JBJ Arctica Titanium Chiller (1/4 HP) for $739 shipped.  Anyone know anything about this brand (good, bad).  And if this is a good price.   Or do you have other suggestions.  I need to be able to chill  close to 300gals..

Thanks
Mike

Mike,

Angel just bought a refurb chiller for his tank, not sure of the brand but he is happy and got a good price.  Zul is also looking for a chiller.  Also Les delivered a chiller to Mike O'Brian (Mojo) and it was very reasonable.

We might be able to approach one of the vendors and get a club discount for multiple units.

For 300 gallons, I would very strongly recommend at a very minimum a 1/2 hp and probably a 1 hp unit.  With my 240, 350 net gallons, my 1/2 runs nearly constantly.  I am sure it will die soon from running 100% of the time.

Looking at the 200+ gallon system set up last night, the 2-1/4 hp chillers barely keep that system at 80.

Hi Mike I bought 2 of these chillers this spring one in a 1/4 hp and the bigger one in a 1/3 hp for my 150 reef tank My 1/3 hp is in my garage with 10' of line from the chiller to the tank and is keeping the temp @ 77 deg constantly and the price is pretty good at this site shipping to your home would be another 50$ check it out before you buy but they say its only good for up to 275 gallons so??? I just wanted to pass it on FWIW...Jeff

Rick,

Would that 1/3 hp chiller be good for Zul's tank? Is there a better deal anywhere?

Zul/Phil.  Why dont' we wait until the meeting and take Ricks advice and see if we can get any info or deals there.  Maybe the both of us can save some money on shipping or whatever if we buy them together..

thanks

Check out the chillers at this place.  They are in Oregon so a road trip will save shipping.

Mike are you still looking for a chiller?  If so I can send you the email 0f the guy I got mine from and you can get all the info you need from him.  He is looking into one for Zul right now (1/2 HP).
