January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Well, after some backorder issues with the new EVC 400 MH bulbs, they showed up. My initial impression is they are awsome. I put two of these on the tank and left one Ushio 10k at the one end. There is a very noticable difference between them. The EVC's are more white and seem brighter compared to the Ushio. All these bulbs are fired with M59 magnetic ballast, probe start. I hope that this first day of the burnin is as good as the rest of the life of the bulb.

Cool,    Les, please keep us posted on how they turn out.   I lost one of my XM10K bulbs.   It burnt out prematurely.   I thought it was my ballast at first.   Its definitely the bulb.   Sanjay recommended this bulb.  I will probably buy one of these.  Where did you find them?

Good to hear you like the new bulbs Les. I was hoping you could pass on the diffrence of a Magnetic Ballest with the Probe Start , Versus a HQI ballest I am wondering if these would work in a HQI Ballest?

These would work very well on the HQI ballast, however, I use 400 watt so buying an HQI for me and my depth of tank would be a waste of money. I am planning on investing in some of the expensive reflectors though.

I am confused about the light. I bought 3 new bulb EVC 10K(white), but right and left are yellow light and PFO ballast, middle is white light and M59 magnetic ballast. What happened?

By yellow, what do you mean? Can you install one of the Ushio 10K on one end and then compare? If the bulbs are still yellow then try to contact the vendor, they should do something for you about that. Keep me posted.

Thanks
