April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Hi everyone.  Long time, no chat.  Still waiting for Darrel to get some time off to work on the tank.  In the meantime, I am gathering the plumbing parts that he needs.  I have been trying to figure out the overflow set-up.  I have heard of something called the "duraso" or "durso" stand pipe - looks like an upside-down "J", but the plumbing stores don't seem to know what I'm talking about (they look at me like "ha ha, the little lady has lost her marbles and has no business being in a plumbing store anyway - that's a MAN'S world!").  I know that Durso makes plumbing parts, but I can't seem to find this stand pipe thing - any suggestions?  I suppose if I had a plan, we could make our own.  You DIY guys with the huge tanks must know what I'm talking about!  Help is appreciated.  If i can find the rest of the plumbing parts for Darrel to finish up the tank - the lighting is next!

Actually I learned this from Rick.  You can go to Lowes and look for a PVC pipe repair pipe.  It is just a piece of PVC with a sliding sleeve in the middle.  This is for the adjustment part of it.  Then you need a T fitting, 2 90degree elbows, and a cap in what ever size you plan on making the Durso.  It is pretty simple but it is easier to show you than explain it here.

I have attached to pics of what to look for but these do not have the adjustment peice I am talking about.  Call me if you need some help with it.  943-1995.

Angel, thank you so much! This is really helpful.  I am going to make a trip to Lowes tomorrow, with this picture, and see what I can find.  If you are not careful, I'll have you over here doing the plumbing!  Thanks again!!
