April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Hey I picked up a couple of new additions...tho I don't really need them.  lol
I am feeding them a variety of foods but they just spit it back out.
What do I feed them.  I don't have any Nori and don't know where to get it?

One of the foods I have had very good results with on new fish is Zoo Plankton.  It is small and in a liquid suspension so it is soft.

One thing with Anthias, they really need to be fed twice a day to survive.

Kyle,
I am sorry, I did not talk to you more the other day about this.   Anthias love Pods.   So if you have a good supply of Pods, they are most likely feeding at night.   They will eat Mysis eventually.

Thanks for the reply guys.
I did some experimenting....the Anthias would not eat frozen brine, Mysis, large planton(although the tried ), cyclopies, or any flake foods.

With the brine i noticed that they would take it in and then spit it out.
They would not eat large pieces but they tried on the large planton  voraciously.  I looked up in Reef Secrets book and they said that Zoo planton is number one food.   I have phytoplanton and not zoo right now.
They love to eat live food preferable.   so I chopped up some large planton into small pieces...smaller than the brine.   I stirred it in the water and wow what a feeding frenzie!

So now I know that large freedried planton chopped up can work as a substitute for zoo planton.  FYI.

Kyle,

I have an extra jar of Zoo Planton you can have.  Just replace it when you can.

Kylem,

Anthias like to eat freeze dried plankton and branie shrimp a lot. You should buy the prppermint shrimp, it bleeds eggs and the anthias eat them at dark.

Now anthias will change color soon. Smiley  Smiley  Thanks
