January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Well, IAP has the tank done and Darrel finally got a day off, so we are heading up there on Sat to pick it up.  Anyone need anything up in Bremerton?  We can't wait to get that tank home and see how AWESOME it is going to look on the stand that Ron built for us.  Will post pics later this week-end if I'm not too exhausted to lift the camera!

Okay, here we go.  Pictures are labeled, sort of:  Mojo (Mike) & Darrel working on drilling the closed loop in Mike's very tiny shop while I stood outside in the pouring rain trying to take pictures.  Getting the tank home (about midnight after a very long day going over the pass and back during the most snow they've probably had all winter!) and on top of the new stand that Ron S. built (doors are removed, so pics don't do it justice); Darrel and our daughter Jill painting the primer coat on the inside of the stand; primer coat completed, 1st coat of gray enamel paint completed, tank "shrouded" to protect it from flying paint drops!; a couple of the drilled back and side (sorry about the flash).  We have most of the plumbing parts to finish the closed loop, the Dolphin Ampmaster 4700 and Hayworth Motorized Ball Valve all ready to go.  Next steps:  2nd coat of paint on inside of stand; put the closed loop together; buy a skimmer, get the sump and return pump...and so the story goes (slowly but surely, we are building our little piece of the ocean!).   If anyone wants to come by and see it, just ask - we are pretty proud to show it off, even if it lives in the garage and has no water in it yet!

looking good, any new large tank should have the coast to coast overflows i think and you guys did a great job using that recessed space for the loop. Sorry but i guess i am a little out of the "loop" but what is the size?

Hi Justin.  It is a 150 - 60X24X24.   Going to fit in a niche in our breakfast nook, so basically walls on 3 sides.  I think the coast-to-coast will really work out well and the closed loop has two 1 1/2" manifolds  - the top has 6 (3/4") outlets, the bottom  has 4 (3/4") outlets, but each will "Y" off so there will be 8 total locline 'fan' nozzles, working somewhat like a spray bar at the bottom, behind the live rock.  The two manifolds will run off a motorized ball valve on a timer with an Ampmaster 4700 as the CL pump.  We are going bare-bottom, lots of LR (would love to get some of yours, but we won't be ready by the time you need to sell it, unfortunately).   Guess that more than answers your questions - like everyone else in this hobby, we like to talk about our set-up!   Cheesy

Thanks Angel.  Isn't this a trip - setting up a new tank?  What an adventure!  What are you doing for plumbing with your new tank?

I am putting a spray bar along the bottom rear and four returns on SCWDs on a closed loop.  And then running two 3/4" sea swirls from the sump return pump.  Should be pretty hectic in there.  I am going to have a center over flow semi coast to coast (T shape) and a durso stand pipe in the box.  I think I am going to buy a digi cam this weekend so I can post pics.

Rick drilled the tank for me and he did awesome work.  He explained everything I needed to do to prep for drilling and we walked through the plumbing step by step.  Basically he took the day and spent it with me and my tank.  What a good friend, thanks Rick.

Thanks guys,  I really enjoy this hobby and get a lot of enjoyment in seeing other people being succesful and able to enjoy their tanks as much as I do mine.  It is a lot of fun and a great group of people we assembled.
