January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Well I was looking at me new rock yesterday and I found a Majano Anemonie on it and some aiptasia.  Hopefully the Peppermint will clean up the aiptasia when I set up the main tank and I know I have to lemon juice the Majano but that means work and I just want to sit and stare at my tank for hours.

Anyone use or have anything other than lemon juice?  And can what they use be used on mushrooms?  I have a new mushroom rubbing up against a frag and it is killing the tissue where it touches.  (Shroom came with the frag but was unnoticeable at the time I got it)

I used Joes Juice. The stuff works well and fast.  As for the shroom I would try to get it off your frag. Shrooms will grow back.

Every now and then you will get a Copperbanded Butterfly that goes crazy over atiptasia.   I have a Monster of Copperbanded Butterfly that loves Adiptasia.   I have not watched him eat anything but pods and atiptasia.

If you want to shoot Kalkwasser directly into atiptasia with a shringe it will usually melt the atiptasia or mojano.

There is also a Atiptasia eating Nudibach.  That nudibrach eats only atiptasia.

Remember that there are two types of peperment shrimp.  One that eats adiptasia.  One does not.

I hope this helps,
Ed

Angel,

If you really want to get rid of the aptasia and shrooms, use red devil lye with a syringe.  I have been doing it for years and it works great.  It also works good on the hair algae.  Just make sure you feed the fish first, if they eat some, they will not be happy.

Jeff,

I use the 1/8" hard clear plastic tubing from the fish store.  I often heat the tube over a candle just enough to put a 45 degree bend about 2" from the end where I attach the needle.

If you want I can show you my setup and build yours for you at the Christmas Party.
