Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

I ordered some Star Fish for Les to repay work done for me.   I was planning on picking these up Saturday.   The only problems is..I will not be able to pick them up Saturday due to Kids sports agenda.   I am coaching Sons game at 3pm, and My daughter has a 3on3 Basket Ball  tournament, and soccer.   So I will not be able to leave Tri-Cities until about 430 or so Saturday.

Jeff went to Spokane today.   I am hoping maybe he can pick up star fish from order if it comes in.   The only problem is..When you get a order in from Air Line its sometimes unpredictable of time of arrival.   If it does not come in before 1pm.    I will have to head to Spokane in Little Red Car.    :?:

I ordered starfish for Les.   I am coaching soccer today and can not leave for meeting until game is done.  The game starts at 3pm.   Coral Reef closes at 5 on Saturday.
I picked the ones that looked healthy last night.   I got Les two Blue Linkias and one Sand Sifter.

First of All, I want to thank Craig and Rod for driving last night.

Jeff,
I appreciate you trying.  You do not have to do anything for me.   You tried to pick them up and I know you would have if you could.   The order did not come in until real late Friday night.   I was in Steves store until about 11:30.   I was not the only one.   Steve had about 10 people acclimating fish.    He also had a store full of people.   It was crazy  .     The prices of the fish and the size of the fish for the money.    A lot of fish did not get out of the bags.   Steve had a Chryseris Angel for $299.    It was a Adult.  It was gorgeous.    I have heard of Fish like this going for $1000.   He also had a gorgeous Blue Line Angel.   I wanted that beauty.   But my tank would be trashed with his appetite.
Again, the Sub Adult Imperator for $42 dollars is hard for me to pass up.
They were fully colored, about 4-5 inches long.   I see how Steve brings people back.

Rod, and Craig,
I thought about driving last night.   I was pretty beat with only getting 4 hours sleep the night before.   I was a zombie last night.   I owe you guys.

The talk at Spokane Meeting  was about different types of skimmers.   Brent Barr gave the talk. He discussed the diferent type of skimmers and how they work.
He used Kevin's Tank as a example showing a ETSS 800 skimmer.  Kevin explained that the skimmer worked well at first, but when he loaded his tank with fish and corals, He needed more filtration.  Kevin added a Barr Aquatics skimmer to his system.
Brent talked about when you put your hand into the water, feed oily foods like Mysis it , it prevents your skimmer from working until the oil if removed.
Kevins house was packed.  I was able to talk about the latest on Big Meeting in Tri-Cities.   We got lots of feed back, it was positive.   They wanted to know ticket prices and thought ticket presales would show support.   Many people said they would pay $50 dollars a ticket.   They said if you sold 50 tickets at $50 dollars it would be $2500 dollars.   I explained we sold 27 tickets last year and had 104 people show up.   A lot of people said they had such short notice, they could not prepare, This year they want more preparation.  I explained the time of Meeting.  They wanted to buy tickets ASAP.
One idea was to announce one Guest Speaker (Anthony Calfo and say there will be another guest Speaker to be anounced) and sell tickets...
I think there was A lot of people there with different ideas.   I wish more of us could have been there.   I heard it was the Guest Speakers that brought people to Meetings repeatibly.   So here are some ideas to consider..
I hope this helps..
