January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

following a thread at reef central i stumbled onto a pretty cool moonligt setup, I went to target here in kennewick, back to there tiny auto department , and they have these things called mood lights, they have a self mounting back, and come with three blue leds that pivot so you can spotlight whatever you want, they are 12 volts, so you would need a power supply, I used a variable adapter from 3-12 volts, so i can adjust the light intesity, they look soooo cool they actually flouresce my hammer and starburst

ohh also they were 9.99 for the set of three pivoting leds, prewired for 12 volts

i think 4.99 for the variable adapter at big lots
you can use an old adapter you already have but you need the right polarity, i can check it when i get home

Sweet deal.  These moon lights can be made from supplies from Radioshack (if they have those here?)  The parts would be less tan ten bucks I think.  I have two on my 55g that I took from another canopy and am looking at adding probably a lot more for the 150g.  It would be cool to see your set up Shane.  Post some pics big guy! (now that we can officially post them) Cheesy

we do  have a radio shack next to hastings, but the bulbs are almost three bucks each i think, by the time you bought the project boxes, the wiring and three leds, I think this deal would be hard to beat, its a very clean setup, and its ready to use, your welcome to come check out my work in progress antime Angel, as soon as I get a replacement usb cable for my camera, ill post some photos.

take care

This sounds pretty good Shane Matthew Did a diy Moon light back last summer and got the parts on-line and real good on the prices.
You will really like the bennifits the moon light will bring to your tank. My clams would reopen and corals would start extending poylops and the shrimp (cleaners) If you have them will come out and be more active.
I have a harder time feeding Both Pairs of Cardinas ( Banggi & Pajama)
But When the moon lights are on Boy the ywill go to town on feeding!!!!
My Light fixture Has the PFO Led's mounted in the housing and they seem to cover about 30" per Light..Again good luck on the DIY lights.... Cheesy .Jeff

I saw some on e-bay awhile back too that looked pretty cool.  Aquarium Moonlight 4 LED Reef or Fresh moon light (#4361286783) right now selling for $20 - they were going cheaper last time I saw them.  Snooze you lose I guess.  There were several other sizes/set ups on there too. Just in case anyone was looking.  The seller is in Kent and says he will customize to your tank if you e-mail him.

Always looking out for you guys...

Welcome Clarkii!  This is a great group of people if you are thinking of joining the club - very fun and lots of sharing of advice, frags etc.  I am very interested in your moonlight plan - we are currently having a 150 gallon tank built and haven't started on the lighting yet.  I will send you an e-mail.  Thanks and, again, welcome!

Welcome to the board ClarkiiClown.  We look forward to meeting you at the next meeting.  Can you post the design on the "Look what I built" forum?  That would help everyone and keep you from sending out to everyone individually.  Thanks

If it's over 256kb then the board won't let you post it.  But you can send it to me via email and I can create a special link to it..
