Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

I am going to Seattle to pick up some pretty nice frags from a friend.  I will also try to meet up with BC from Reef Frontiers.  Les bought a really nice coral from BC.   I will also meet with Mojo.  I am going to visit with Jonathan from Reef Fantaseas.   Jonathan is really talented with building protein skimmers, Media reactors(I love this unit), Calcium reactors, etc.
Really cool guy, goes the extra to make a  person happy.  I am planning on leaving by 10 am, possibly earlier.
I am loading up in little red car so if you want to go...chime in..

Hey Ed...I might want to tag along...would really like to meet Mojo Mike!  Not sure if Darrel has any plans - I know he said we weren't going to the home show this year (gotta spend too much $ on our new tank - nothing left over for any other home goodies!).  How little is this red car?  I have an Accord - if you want to I can drive my car.  If a bunch of people want to go, our son works for Enterprise ("they pick you up") - we can get a van!

Hey, My email is not working at home.   I am working OT tonight.  So if you email me about this at home that is why I have not replied.    I will hopefully have this fixed tonight.
I will need to leave early Saturday to get back early.

I am up in the air about this trip.    I am waiting on person with corals and person that is going to hold corals to communicate.   I may have to pick up corals today.   My email is working now again.   I may have to communicate with people and see if I can do everything tonight or today.
I am taking a half day vacation just in case I have to leave early..

I just want to say Thanks to Vicki for driving up to Seattle area.   I had a really good time.   Vicki did some preplaning before hand or we would have gotten back later than we did on Saturday.   We visited Mojo at his house.   We saw his tank.   We helped him a little bit while he worked on his skimmer.   We visited with Reef Fan.   We visited Katchupboy and saw his tank.   Katchupboy has a extremely clean 40 gallon tank.   He has one 400 Watt metal halide over it.   He also has a calcium reactor that he invented.  It is very cleaver.  It uses no CO2.   It was a really nice tank.
Then we visited BC.  BC showed us his I50 I think it was.   He had two 250 double ended Metal halides.   He had a Denae that was awesome.  We met some really nice people.   It was awesome to see their tanks and equipment.   I recommend visiting others if you get the chance.  Buying frags, equipment, is a good way to check out other tanks and meet some really cool people in the hobby..Vicki and I did not eat until late, we were on the go so much.   But I would do it in a heartbeat again..
Thanks Vicki..
Sincerely,
Ed
Ps.  I will gladly clean the pop spill up that I made.   I have cleaners and equipment.

I am interested too since CO2 is needed in the mix I can't imagine a Ca Reactor without it?

I was hoping Katchupboy would share this.   It looked really simple.   I will explain in person.   It involves a calcium block, air line tubing, and container to disolve calcium block, and a metering valve.  All the above parts are placed into the prefilter box and gravity fed into the sump.
It was pretty cool.   He said he had to do some adjusting, one time his calcium was up to 600 he stated.   But now he has all the bugs worked out.    I can explain more in person at meeting.. Cheesy

Hey, Ed - I had a great time too.  We did get to meet some very cool people and see some nice tanks.  I think BC Matt's must be at least 180 cuz it was so tall!  Everyone was very nice and Cesar's calcium drip DIY was very cool, wasn't it?  He used the KISS method (keep it simple stupid!) right?  We should ask him to post something about that here.  My car is none the worse for wear - Mountain Dew and all!  We did put on 540 miles, if anyone wants to know, but is was a good trip and Ed kept me laughing and I kept him busy asking lots and lots of newbie questions!  Thanks Ed - I had a good time too!

Now...what is this I hear about a trip to Spokane to see Kevin's tank???
