Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

HI
I will be relocating to your area this summer and would like to know what is available there in the Tri-City area. I lived there for 4 years but did not have my saltwater tank up and running then..
I belong to a club down here in Las Vegas and know how wonderful it is to share the fun off saltwater with others. I was hoping to kind of tag along and get up to speed on what is going on in your club before I move there. I also would like to know if there are any good LFS in the area that carry corals and such. I lived in West richland off of Bombing range for 4 years and am familiar with the area.
I am planning right now on moving my fish and corals but am not sure how it will work out. My plans may change but I hope to keep most of what I have. It is a two day drive and I do not know if it will cause too much stress on my livestock. It is an 18 hour drive (1000 miles) and I have two young kids so that makes it about a 24 hour drive with bathroom breaks and food, They get kind of mean if I don't feed them. So for us it is a two day drive. I will follow along on this message board and try and keep up to speed on what you all are doing up there. I actualy can not wait to be back to the tri-cities I have been gone just over 1 year and hate it down here. Oh well 6 months is better than never

As of right now I have a 75 gal reef. In it is one orange shoulder tang, 2 clowns, 2 firefish, 3 chromis, 1 jawfish,1 sixline wrasse, 3 gobies 1yellow 1 green 1 neon. An urchin assorted snails and blue leged hermits. For corals I have assorted mushrooms both reg. and frilly, ricordia, frog spawn, green star polyps, hammer, kenya tree coral, montipora, zoanthus, yellow polyps, faviidae, goniopora, staghorn, xenia, and several others..I also have an active fuge with cheto and tang heaven growing in it. With in our group down here we do a lot of frag trading so most of what I have are small frags. I have only had my system up and running now for 9 months so they have not had a lot of time to grow large. I was planning on bringing my items in the car with me so that I could control tem and movement of them.(If possible) I may get rid of some of my Items so my list may go down, who knows 6 months is a long time in reef land. Thank you
Camille

It isn't the cleanest set up but it's up and running and healthy.I will be doing a lot of fine tuning when I move.

Hey Camille!!! Welcome home!!!  Smiley This club is truly an amazing bunch of people. I am new into the hobby and without this club I for sure would have failed! Everyone here is soooo giving! Cheesy Frag swapping is big in this club as well, although....I've only been taking and not giving!!! (Remember, I'm new and don't have anything yet to give)    But, when I do....LOOK OUT!!  Anyhow, I know there are a couple members in the club that have moved a tank over several days and will be able to give you some advice. Angelcrx is one thay I remember right off the bat. I know there are others! I am sure they will all chime in. That is another thing about this club....we're not shy! Cool

Your tank looks great and I am really excited to meet you. Good luck on the trip and we'll be here waiting! Cheesy

Hi Camille!  Welome home to the Tri-Cities (almost! - hang in there).  We are new club members and I have to echo what Luvnsalt says - this is a great bunch of people in our club.  We'll look forward to having you join us when you get back to the area.  Our last club meeting would have been a good one for you - it was all about moving a tank. We have a club meeting tonight too - wish you could be up here to join us.  Club pres Rico could probably also give you some pointers on moving a tank - several people in the club have lots of experience so you will no doubt get some good advice.  Good luck  - looking forward to meeting you in person in a few months!  Cheesy

Welcome to our little part of the internet ocean.  I am sure you will love this club as much as I (and we) do.  I think I am the one that moved the furthest so I will send you a PM with my number and you can call me if you want some help or I can post the long and back breaking four day cross country move I made to get here from Arkansas.

Thanks for thinking of me.
Well as you know best laid plans change.
I am all boxed up and ready to move back to the Tri- Citites and my husband got a diffrent Job offer in Idaho Falls  Idaho so now I am all boxed up and have no idea what direction I am going but I am ready to go whatever direction he decides to go. I will keep you posted on where I end up. I will be in need of a coral sitter I think until my tank recycles when I get it set up. BUT I do not know in what state.
Thanks Camille

I believe there is a nice size club in Idaho falls if I remember correctly?  Have to look for it.  Thanks for keeping us posted and as always let us know if we can help?
