April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Nate showed me some really cool hinges.   The hinges allow your doors to pop off for more clearance.    Nate is going to make a order pretty soon, anyone that wants to get in on the deal contact Nate C on here.   I am not sure when he is ordering.   I want to compare my hinges and see how easily they can be added to my canopy.    Here is the link from Nate

Thanks Nate

I've got these hinges on our current tank (hood).  I can't live without them, so I'm going to be adding them to the 155 as we prep it for install.  I will need to order hinges by the 23rd, as I hope to be to the point of moving the tank in by the following weekend (we'll see how that goes).  Be sure to check the link " Rockler's Guide to Choosing a Concealed Hinge" to know what style to order.  I'm also going to get some of the "Blumotion Soft Close System" pieces for us...no more losing my grip on the door and scaring the fish when it slams shut!

I guess PM me with quantity and part number(s) you would like to order as that will most likely be easiest.

Neat looking hinges but can't you buy those locally too?  I thought I saw some like that at Home Depot or Lowes?

Don't think that they have the selection, and the price is more (if they even have them...these aren't very common).  My friend that does a lot of woodworing in his garage ordered them from this link because he couldn't find them in town.

I couldn't live without the ability to push 2 clips and have the door off and out of the way now that I've had them.

Nate,
How good is your memory, Do you think I would have very much of a problem putting these type of hinges on my Canopy?

Ed,

If you have room on your door to drill a 35 mm hole, you should be set.  If you want, I can come over this evening and take a look at what you have and take a few measurements with you.  Or, just go to the webpage and take a look at the descriptions for how to measure and let me know what hinges you need.  I'd be happy to help you get the right ones though, so don't hesitate to ask me to come over and give you a hand!

Ed,
make sure that your canopy does not use a "face frame" hinge. These won't work in place of a face frame style hinge with out modifacation to the cabinet.

Ok, I need to learn what  face frame hinge looks like.     I am working OT tonight.   I would love either of your help.     I am not working OT tomarrow for sure, I do have plans at 530pm Friday though.   So if someone is available from 3-5 for a few minutes I would love it.
thanks in Advance,
Ed Cheesy

Actually, if you look at the application guide...they've got both for face frame and faceless frame set-ups.  So, it'll work for anyone that wants to drill a 35mm hole into the inside of the door to mount the hinge.

Ed,  I'm off tomorrow working on the car.  I should be able to break away for a few minutes to help figure things out if you need it.  Just give me a call.
