April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Saddled Puffer, Canthigaster valentini
I suppose that is supposed to be in honor of Valentine's Day this month...

There is a different common name out there for this fish, but you definitely get a prize Paul.

Can any of our newbies find the other more appropriate common name?

Oh by the way, I've updated the website, so go take a look..

Well I came up with a few names for it, including the one I think you're hinting at, but Saddled Puffer seemed to be the most common.

It looked like a puffer to me (as opposed to last time when I embarrassingly mistook a wrasse for an anthias) so I typed what seemed to be the relevant holiday this month and puffer into google and. . .

This is what I found to be the name on http://divemad.com/valentine_puffer_fish1.htm and here's his profile.

The cute "Valentine's Sharpnose puffer" is a toxic pufferfish, commonly found in reef waters. It is also known as the "Black Saddle Tobi" and its characteristic colour pattern is mimicked by a small "saddle-like look."  Males are territorial and usually have a harem of up to 7 females which they constantly guard from other males.

7 females in a harem make this little guy a serious Casanova and the rightful name of Valentine. Cheesy

Well Paul wins the prize for correctly identifying the fish as well as the significance.  (Yes, Valentine's day is this month).

Angel wins the prize for the most information, and the exact name I was looking for (and a prize for the humor in the message as well).

Well done!

If anyone would like to volunteer to come up with a trivia question for next month (including the answer), let me know.
