April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

I think you will be very happy with this set up Vicki  Cheesy 60"
will allow you to put 3 metal halides if you want or go with 2 big  400 watt units

Wow that is a good deal and a nice set up.

Yeah, it does look nice.  I think however, we've decided we are going to go with the new 5' IAP tank with the coast-to-coast (since we have the room, might as well get the biggest tank in there that we can).  If anyone is interested in this set-up, I did contact Ryan and here is the info he sent back:

"The $950 includes Tank, factory stand, glass tops and homemade canopy. I also have a 40+- refugium/sump that I was using (not factory) that I would make a deal on if purchased together. If you pick it up, I have a bunch of odds and ends you can grab. I also have some plumbing that I will include too. I'm asking $50 for a door to door delivery within the Puget Sound but am unable to come over the mountains. I live on Whidbey Island just 25 minutes from Mount Vernon.  I'm willing to make this work." - ryan@thenowickis.com

For anyone who may be interested, better go for it!

We are pretty excited about it too! I should write a book "How to go from planning a 55 gal to a 150 gal in 5 weeks or less" - the secret: Get the husband excited about the hobby! He has woken up twice this week he says "thinking about our tank and the plumbing schematic"...always a good sign when the spouse starts dreaming about reefkeeping too!

It has to be a Team effort at home And if your spouse is into it that makes it just that much more fun  Cheesy

That type of team work has let me go from a 75 gallon tank to the 150 Reef i have now!

Hey interesting comment about 2 400 watters on a 150g tank!  Is that enough coverage.  I am thinking something will get missed?  24" square foot is the general rule of thumb on lighting isn't it?

Angel,

You are right, 24" is the best range of coveage for the MH lights.  You may get more if you raise them but then you loose intensity at the bottom.  I have always installed my lights at 24" spacing and it has worked very well for me.
