Did find some info on them though.

The Blue Tang, the Caribbean Blue Tang or Atlantic Blue Tang is moderately difficult to keep. They seem to be more delicate than the Yellow or Regal Tangs.

It is important that you feed Tangs a good variety of live, frozen, and prepared formula foods with emphasis on vegetables and spirulina. Best to feed small amounts several times a day. I suggest offering more algae, such as nori, or Gracilaria, soaked in Selcon.

Mainly found grazing on algae. Will accept brine shrimp, mysis, plankton, and krill. After acclimation they will usually eat all kinds of foods including flakes.

Usually found in pairs or small groups, very seldom seen in groups of more than 10 fish.

This fish is generally rarely available and is fairly expensive. (so where did you get yours?)

Oh, man - that is too bad, Jeff.  What a beautiful fish - sorry you lost him.  Is there any way for us to know when buying fish if the LFS uses a source that gets chemically-caught fish?  I sure would want to let the LFS know what happened - how lond did you have him and will they offer a replacement etc?  Sure sounds like you did everything you could to get him a varied diet etc.  Hope the next go-round is better for you guys.

I bought him off the net @ Saltwaterfish.com  I had him for a little over 2 weeks He was very active but just a extremly finicky eater, I was told this could be a sign of Cyanide Poision.. Lessons learned  Local fish stores do have a better guarantee. It is just harder to get Rare fish from our LFS they have limited supplyers. I have sent a e-mail to Saltwater I will pass on what they have to say..Jeff

Cyanides are used to capture live fish near coral reefs for the aquarium and seafood market. In this method, a diver uses a large, needleless syringe to squirt a cyanide solution into areas where the fish are hiding, stunning them so that they can be easily gathered. Environmental organizations decry the practice, as do responsible aquarists and aquarium dealers. Many fish caught in this fashion die either immediately or in shipping. Those that survive to find their way into pet stores often die from shock, or from massive digestive damage. The high concentrations of cyanide on reefs so harvested has also resulted in cases of cyanide poisioning among local fishermen and their families.
For every saltwater fish that makes it to the collector's home or office aquarium, as many as nine more die and poisonous cyanide residue is left behind to kill other fish, marinelife and living coral. What's more, fish harvested in this way are damaged and weakened, leaving them more susceptible to death in transit, in the aquarium store or with the hobbyist/owner.

Clinical Signs
Increased respiration; loss of normal body color; presence of discrete white spots (freshwater or marine Ich); scratching on tank bottom or on objects; lethargic behavior; white tufts or strands on body [Fungus]; dustlike "peppered" spots on body surface, having a yellowish cast [Oodinium].

Treatment
Not too many options out there for cyanide poisoning.  Only one I found was KPD-28 Methylene Blue. At http://www.novalek.com/kpd28.htm

Hope that helps!

Interesting info, Angel. I've read some articles on this, but this really sums it up well and that part about massive digestive damage could certainly explain why Jeff's poor little guy didn't feel like eating anything, even though Jeff obviously tried every possible food to get him to eat.  I hope this info helps others - thanks Angel!

Thanks for the Post Angel I belive that Digestive Damage was the cause.
