January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

I have an extra 5g tank that I want to set up as a breeder tank for my pods and mysis.  I have a plant light in it for the macros and am planning on getting water from the tank, rocks, and some substrate.  Anyone have some experience or research in doing this?  I want to try and add more live food to the tank, so any suggestions would help.  Thanks

Angel I have had very Good luck with my Refugium. It is a pretty good bug factory In my 150 tank. I think with the lights and the flow from your sump is the trick Angel    I tend not to feed the Fuge but every once in a while Sherri will put Nori in there and them Bugs and snails will fight like mad for It. If you want i can send you some pics of mine if it would help.Jeff

Yeah please email pics to me.  I have a sump/refugium under my tank but don't know how to get the pods and mysis from the sump to the display for my fish?  I am hoping that I can get a good population going in a seperate tank and then just net them out and drop into the tank.  Any thoughts?  My email is angelscrx@netscape.net  thanks

I sent you 2 e-mails of shots Angel Let me know if you didn't get them I have been told and belive it from observation of my system then your little tank gets really going with the pods the tend to be very tertorial and they fight for space and Big ones always push the little guy out I belive these pods go thru my over flow into the sump and are pumped into my Main Tank I have also seen On my CPR Hang on that just aftef the tank lights go off my Mandrin fish will swim up to were the overflow of water from the fuge dumps back into the tank And he dines quite nicely there  Smiley
Hope this helps ..
What i am doing on my 75 tank since i have no room for a fuge is i have converted the sump into my fuge I am just having a hard time getting a good Pod population to get going

That will certainly help in moving the pods to the main tank.

Wow since taking the prefilter of the return pump I am seeing lots more Mysis in the display.  I am starting to see more amphipods too.  I just added a copepod booster kit too so that should move everything up.  Thanks all for the help.
