Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

I have very little knowledge on the sunburst anthias Zul sorry   I have heard they are expert only fish to keep  :?  I know how hard it is to keep the expert fish them leopard wrasses keep me Quite busy Smiley  Do you have a male or female in the tank? If so have thought of adding a mate? instead of another species? What are you feeding your current
sunburst anthias?  Do they eat prepaired foods???

This is from Marinedepotlive. Dosen't sound to good For you Zul however Please do some more reserch...Jeff

Restricted Species. This species is very difficult to keep and should only be attempted by expert aquarists, or is a 'delicate shipper.' Our Stay Alive guarantee is not available on this item.

Sunburst Anthias - Serranocirrhitus latus
Also known as: Fathead Anthias.
Reef Compatibility: Reef Safe.
Maximum Size: The Serranocirrhitus latus grows up to 5.1 inches.
Sizes shipped: 1.5-2.5 Inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Sunburst Anthias prefers a tank of at least 75 gallons with plenty of places to swim and hide.
Diet: The Serranocirrhitus latus is a planktivore, and feeds on mysid shrimp, amphipods and other macroscopic life.
Level of care: The Sunburst Anthias is a high maintenance fish.
Compatibility Notes: Community reef type set up is recommended.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).
Range: The Sunburst Anthias is commonly collected from the Western Pacific, Fiji, and Coral Sea.
General Notes: The Sunburst Anthias is one of the more demanding of the Anthias, and should be kept in as a solitary specimen, as it does not do well with others of it's own or with other Anthias. As with most Anthias kept in aquariums, the Sunburst Anthias will look their best when the tank has a lot of cliffs and overhangs, mimicking their natural environment. Offer frozen Mysis shrimp, Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef (Frozen), and other small meat based foods

I want to thank Zul for starting this thread It was a good one it helped me learn a little about anthias.
I am asking all members who Have,Or Had in the past kept anthias and what species you currently have? I know from the Past Zul,Kyle,Ed,Rick,& Les have had them I hope you guys will reply on your sucess and what not to do's. I Will say That i got the bug for these guys last year I only have 2 left out of a school of 4. I was worried that my small tank size (75) gallon would be a problem so I stayed with one of the smaller more peacefull species plus they are a shallow fish species so I knew they could tallorate the Halide lighting alot easyer. I have Pseudanthias dispar's they are very shy and if I was to start over i would like a more aggresive anthias that these. Mine seem to be picked on by my sixline wrasse and by my Amphiprion frenatus Tomato clowns, It is amazing that they school with my Leopard Wrasses and will hunt together.
My goal is to see if in our club just what we have all learned on our own and can we share thru this thread just the best Anthias to keep in our tanks. I belive that the Disbars are very easy to get & keep alive in a tank 50 gallons and larger from what I have learned however they are EXTREMLY peacefull fish that have a very low tollerance for being harassed My losses were in the Introduction on the fish and my two remainders have been in my tank since march this year. So post away pass on what you have or had and would you recomend it for the best Anthias for a reef tank...Thanks Gang...Jeff

Jeff,
All I know is that the dominate female can become a male in a harem.  A male usually requires about 5 females.
They will sit for hours and watch new  tank mate.    Thats the thing I like.
Kevin Pockell is the one I would ask about Anthias.    He has been buying different types for some time.
Here is what I know about Sunburst.   The males are usually the larger.
The sunburst is usually out in the  open more than other Anthias.
The Fathead (sunburst) should be kept with more aggressive fish especially when introduced first. For example, the first fish in your tank was a Sunburst, You later introduce more fish.   The Sunburst will usually be more agressive since he established territory first.
