January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Since we don't have our tank yet   I am trying to get a few things we will need and can buy before we get the tank.  The one item I am thinking about getting first is an RO/DI unit.  So, what is everyone's experience?  Do you have an RO or an RO/DI - do we need a DI for this area (Richland city water)?  I haven't done too much research locally yet like Lowe's or Home Depot etc, but I've been thinking of this 100 gpd system that Marc Levinson sells on his webite (MLEVEV's Reef).  $149 +25 s/h.  You can see it at:  http://www.melevsreef.com/ro_di.html   I have no idea if that is a good unit, a good price etc - just a starting point in my research.

So, before I decide on an RO/DI system, thought I'd better hear from all of you as to your experience, horror stories (stay away from &(^%)(&^$ vendor) etc.  C'mon, give it up for the noob!  Thanks!!

I have had excellent luck with the Ebay RO/DI vendors. $89 for 75 GPD system. Can't beat their price.

Hey, thanks.  I've been looking on there.  Even bid on a 110gpd, 6-stage system for 108.  Lost it in last 30 seconds to someone who bid 110.  I really don't know enough about these units yet to know what is necessary (this one had a drinking faucet and a 4 gal pressure tank, which I probably don't need).  They sell some marked for aquariums and others are not, but I can't see a big difference.  Right now they have a bunch of the 110 gpd, 6-stage w/o the tank and drinking faucet for buy it now price of $90, so I may go ahead and just get one.  Seems like it would do the trick. Thanks for advice to look on e-bay!

I've got an aquaFX 100gpd unit.  I'll not go with them next time around.  I had problems with the original order, and had problems again when I re-ordered parts.  Every time there has been something missing from the order that they have had to send after the fact.  Pretty poor service.
