Hungry mouths to feed ( 150 tank)

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.
 
Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

Well...scratch the Sailfin blenny off that previous list.  We had to put him in the freezer yesterday.  :cry:   We'd had him for about a year, but after going away for the weekend, with him looking fine, we come home to find him with a sunken stomach and lying on the substrate panting.  He'd move a little if provoked, then lie over on his side again.  

After doing some reading, it sounds like he probably had a blockage, he'd get a fat stomach eating the algae sheets we would drop in for him, but the rest of him didn't really plump up much (he'd started showing signs of famine about a month ago, and we started feeding more).  Apparently, he finally gave in to whatever was wrong.  We'll miss watching him perch around (he loved magnet therapy....sitting on our hammerhead cleaner magnet).  He really had a lot of character.  When we first put him in the tank, any time he'd see us walk toward the tank (or past the room door for that matter) he'd dart into the rock.  Toward the end, we could have our hand in the tank doing a water change, and he'd sit right there and watch us, even if the hose was right next to him.  

Anyone have a suggestion for a more ominvorous blenny we can add once we have Rico's 155 up and running?  I would really like to get another blenny, but one that we don't have to worry about having algae in the tank to keep fed would be nicer.

Sorry to hear about your Blenny Nate :cry:  I have one as well and he is very out going. I think after you get the 155 up & going try another one and try to find a smaller one I personally think they adapt to our tanks beter than the big ones do I have lost 2 big ones ( just wouldn't eat and would always hide but the littler ones seem to do very good. Another Blenny I would like to try is a Bi-color Blenny they too are a Algie grazer And from what i have read they will get along with a sail fin/lawn mower blenny . One othe piece of advice i would do is put them in your tank before any tangs ...Jeff :wink:

Roger on the tangs, last thing we will add to the tank will be a yellow tang (that after one or two of the more dosile tangs if we dare).  We will probably try another (we almost always go for the smaller fish when we add them...as you said, they seem to adapt better) sailfin.  It's just not much fun when you've had a fish that long and all of a sudden for no reason they start having problems.   :?   Guess that's part of the hobby though huh?

The Sailfin blennies are awesome.  I have had mine for almost a year now and he is the biggest showoff.  If I sit in front of the tank he gets right in front of me and does his little back and forth dance so I can see him.  He picks at the rocks all day long.  He is so much fun to watch.  

I also need to add a Sixline Wrasse to my list.  Got it last Friday.  Beautiful little fish.  More active than any of my other fish.

Great choice Angel these little fish do a very good job on keeping little pest in check

The Sailfin blennies are awesome.  I have had mine for almost a year now and he is the biggest showoff.  If I sit in front of the tank he gets right in front of me and does his little back and forth dance so I can see him.  He picks at the rocks all day long.  He is so much fun to watch.  

I also need to add a Sixline Wrasse  to my list.  Got it last Friday.  Beautiful little fish.  More active than any of my other fish.

Mike at Amazon Bay got a shipment in on Tuesday and he had a bi-color blenny in one tank that I 'interacted' with for several minutes.  If I had a tank   I would have bought him - he was very entertaining.  Would swim up and touch the glass by my finger then swim back and hide behind some plumbing, watching me until I put my finger on the glass again, when he would swim back out.  I was smitten and now I want one!  Just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted to go take a look.  He was pretty small.  They also had a lawnmower blenny there that just came in his shipment.  I was having fun just watching them open up the bags.

Well for some reason the little wrasse is hiding all the time now.  I found him in a hole that almost looked too small for him.  I haven't seen any of the other fish bullying him around or anything so maybe something is happening at night that I am not aware of?  I haven't seen him today at all so this weekend I will have to get in there and find him if he is still ok.  I may quarantine him for a while or put him under the tank until I can figure out what's going on?

Definitely strange behavior for a 6-line.  Typically they are out frequently swimming around and playing in the currents.

Hi Angel mine would hide and stay around the rock work and hunt all day long but since he was a newbie he did get picked on by my Psedochromis :twisted:  Still have a bounty on him :evil:
Any way this sixline i had would sleep in my Frogspawn at night One night i accadently picked up the frogspawn and fownd out that was his sleeping Home he proceeded to bite the crap out of me for 3-4 seconds and then he died  :oops: sooo
First find were he sleeps and don't bother him. second do you have any  :twisted: Psedochromis :twisted: ..Jeff
