Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

As for having a server to host pictures, that is not the problem.  The reason this does not work with our forum is the software we are using is FREEWARE, if we want to scrape up some $$ to buy the professional bulletinboard/forum software, then we could have the users post their pictures.  If someone knows of some FREEWARE bulletin board software that allows picture posting, please let us know.  Mike O'Brian has offered to post pictures submitted by email to the web server.  I discoraged this because I did not think he should be burdened with having to constantly read his email and update the web page with everyone's pictures. it is not fair to Mike.

I couldn't agree with you more. I will look around but I am the one that found this software.

I will look into the price of registering it. It would be a good move on our behalf if we upgraded. Cheesy

Couldn't this stuff work with our website if it is on a server that has a static ISP and runs PHP?

The reason that it is not set up that way now is because the main server is a secure server and the forum can't run on it due to the server owner not wanting to add the PHP source on his machines.

Mike can but he doesn't have static ISP so the main website wasn't going to be hosted on his server.

Thus we have two servers handling two functions of our site.

PHPBB has "mods" that should allow for us to do all kinds of things to this software.

Matt,

I agree that we should look into an upgrade, either this software or something from a different vendor.  We have several new club members with a lot of expertise in web stuff who have offered to help, I will talk with them and ask for suggestions.  I can understand why the host of our site had issues with PHP, it was our bb software that got hacked from a worm exploiting it just a couple of weeks ago.  What ever we do, we have to have a majority agreement from the club's board of directors.

Good Move! Cheesy

BTW, your signature still says you own a 155 bowfront. You need to upgrade that baby as well. Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

That's what I told him Matt.  Though, maybe I should add the 240 to my signature line seeing as it is in my house.  It's not officially his until May, right?
