April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

I mean it is too small. It won't fit on the little knoby thing. On the other powerheads it fits in the hole.....but is too lose. Maybe I am trying to stick it somewhere I shouldn't???!! I got it from someone out of the Giant Nickle so I am not sure how long it was tore down. It had fresh water in it before I got it.

I am confused why you would want to create air bubbles in a Salt Tank?
If you have bubbles then you have salt creep.   Salt creates a path to syphon water out of your tank.   Who told you to do this and why?

ed i had suggested the airlines as a temporary measure for two reasons

1. she stated has cloudy water, green hue
this would suggest algea bloom, which depletes the oxygen saturation in the water, i have always been told to areate water during a bloom

2.she is running w/out a skimmer, by creating micro bubbles in the tank she can skim her tank by hand, this method has been referenced in other sources i have seen when no skimmer is present

i do not have your experience and could be wrong abouth it but there was a method to my madness

take care

Shane,
I am no expert.    I was thinking someone was doing this for PH.   Air bubbles could affect her Xenia.   The other issue I am concerned with is the salt creep going over the sides of her tank.    Water movement in water creates Oxygen.    The longer her tank is set up the more efficient it will be.  What is happening is the die off of Algae is creating phosphates. The algae feeds on phosphates.

common sources of Phospates...Food, additives, decaying animals, untreated water.

If she does not have fish I would not feed the tank.  The animals such as crabs, starfish, and snails can eat the algae.
If she has fish only feed every other day the size of fishes eye.  You do not want any excess food to left in the tank.   That is where the 100 golden astreas would go to town on her tank.
Reeftopia.com   has 100 golden astreas for $29.   Maybe we can do a group order and save everyone some money by cutting shipping?

I hope this helps

Oh Shocked  Ok now I understand.  I was assuming the tank was previously SW and you bought it, broke it down, moved it, and set it back up.  I thought it was an established tank and that you should not be having the cycle time you are having (oops my bad.)

I still have hose that will fit if you need some?

Angel,
Thanks for the hose offer. I don't know if I need it now???. Rick set me up with a loaner skimmer last night and tested my water for me. My nitrates are slightly high. .25 if I remember right. My phosphates a little high as well.....go figure. But hey....on the bright side my salinity was perfect. YEAH!!!  Shocked Ok, maybe I won't give up quite yet. It sounds like Ed is trying to set me up with my sump.....yikes. I don't know guys....I am pretty nervous about all that. I hope you all know that if your sick of me now....wait until that happens!!!  By the way Rick and Barbie....you guys are awesome!! Cheesy  Thank you so much for opening your home to my kids and I last night. Thank you so much for your knowledge and all your help. To all of you who have taken the time to read this and my other cries for help...Thank you. Sincerely!!!
