Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

options and have came across a couple vendors that i am considering.  one option is another set of power compacts, her is the link

the other is going with halides, wich I will do if necessary, but i really dont want to keep sps anyway, if lps and softies are cool on pc, ill stick with that, anyway here is the link for the hallie

bshane,
I found a place in Seattle that sold lights really cheap.   They were PCs, ballast, bulbs, sockets for I think 40 dollars.    I will see if I can find them.    http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/html.php?file=../html_files/saltwater_city.htm
check them out .   The guy there was very personable, and prices were very reasonable.
hopet this helps,
Ed

Welcome to the Mid Columbia Club Shane, I just bought some strip lights like your looking for in the Power compact and i was able to get 65 watt lights in a 30" fixture. I also noticed you didn't want to keep SPS, LPS or any other hard corals, Also If you want to keep clams YOU will need Halides I have tried under Power compact and not had any good results.

I am not a PC or VHO light fan. I recomend MH everytime. They are just a much better light all around.

I run MH's over my Softy tank and would never go to VHO/PC lights.

BTW 400 Watts are too much for a 55. Look into the dual 175's.

thanks for the feedback everyone

i don't intend on keeping any clams though, i actually think i prefer pc lighting, but if it is not adequate for the species i want to keep, then i would consider an upgrade, does anybody know where to get a economical
2 x 175 mh setup??
