Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

My calcium level has been very good at 470PPm until today, now it is 220PPm. I did a water change this past weekend and now it has dropped.I have been adding the two part calcium and alkalinity . Alk is OK but Cal. is low. Any suggestions? Sad  Smiley

What type of Salt are you using, before you go to steps below?...

add calcium slowly.   Do not test until 4 hours after adding calcium so additives are mostly dissolved in your tank.   Then again add slowly or small amounts until you are back up to 400ppm-420ppm.  Remember, you need to wait 4 hours after adding to test again.

Yeah and actually I think 470 is a little high.  You might also check with someone elses test kit.  Yours might be bad or something wrong with it.  That seems like a pretty extreem jump  in results.  You might just test someone elsees water who knows what there calcium is and see what results you get...

Also, if you have a bad alk test  kit, then your alk maybe high which is causing a supressed calc.

My test this morning was 220ppm calcium and alk. was 3.03meq/l. I dosed ( calcium 100ml and alkalinity 20ml ) the tank this morning. Now it is 330 ppm, alk.is 2.77meq/l. After last weekends water change I did not test till today. How much of a dose should I give the tank? Is the dose 20 ml more or less every time I dose?
