My Ach'n Acan!
« on: April 08, 2012, 10:54:36 AM »
Looking for some help. I have an Acan that was doing great and all the sudden has decised to shrink up and look ,rather slimy. Water parameters are good, nothing out of range, and under 150W MH and VHOs, salinity is .023. No previousindication of a problem, just woke up one morning and it's shriveled up. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks in advance all.

Try moving it to lower light area (shaded) in the tank.  Sometimes they just don't like having much light if they get a ding or something.

1.023 is on the low end of normal for salinity too, but wouldn't adjust that until things with the acan either get better or it goes away completely.

Thanks Nate, I'll try moving it down in the tank.

agrees with Nate on salinity-

Salinity is one of the most common mistakes people make.  Bring that salinity up to recommended level of salt manufacturer so your calcium, alk, mag, strontium, boron, etc are all at designed levels.

Let me know if you need anything.
