Mid-Columbia Saltwater Aquarium Club

April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Jeff,
Check the ammonia levels, you may need more than a couple of water changes to correct.

Les I tested for Amonia and did not have any come up in my test i also have 2 ea of the seachem Amonia monitors in my tank and they haven't changed. However the only test kit i have for testing amonia is a red sea kit I know bad but i havent been testing since i got my tank up and running. I do test daily for Nitrate and Nitrite levels My Nitrite levels have just plain stayed at zero and I do have high Nitrate levels 20-30 ppm so this was the first thing i thought was my Nitrate could be the cause. I have removed all my BIO-BALLS from my sump over flow i just have live rock in at this time Temp of the tank has stayed between 78-81 Very consistatly. I also removed all old filters and installed new ones so i don't know what to try next however the fish are still hangging in there just not improving or getting worse...Jeff

It could be stress from doing too much at once.    I would try to keep your hands out of tank.   Add charcoal to your sump.  If your animals are stressing they create more amonia.    I would change as little as possible.    If you do a filter change, don't do a water change the same day, Vice versa.    You want to do as litte as possible not to stress animals.    Your animals may have been fighting at night because they  lost their home.    You may have to separate your animals.   Let me know how it turns out please.

I don't think i have to much fish currently i have figgured about 40" of fish in the 150 gallon tankand most of this is small fish my largest one is a powder blue and purple tang that are both only 4" in lenght so any more ideas? suggestions???

Jeff,
Keep running Charcoal.    Did you do a water change yesterday?   If not do one today.   Make sure water temp is the same and salinity is the same to prevent shocking more.   Is your tank Temperature stable?
How are your Xenia?  Xenia will melt also if your temp is too high.   Xenia love nitrates they eat them.  Clams love nitrates they eat them.  Sponges eat nitrates.   All of your other animals are doing good?  Call me if you want tonight.  My pc is down at home.

Hey Les I am work! Tongue   My pc is down at home.  Seals should be here any day now.  I ordered them late Monday!   Smiley

If you guys need me I will be home after 8pm tonight.  I have been working OT this week.    Again my pc is down.  So feel free to call me.   I am looking for my copy of Windows XP.
I can not find it.

Ed i have 3 days use since my last water change 55 gallons in my 150 gallon tank Xenia looks great and is pumping like a madman so i think its fine. Temp is staying 78 to 81 pretty constant thru the day into the evening then back down by the morning. Salinity is staying at 1.0245 will creep up in the evening ( i add my water for evaporation ) at this time i only add 2 gallons per day which i think is good for 150 gallon tank and a 40 gallon sump. As far as Xenia goes i only have 2 patches about 2" in Dia. So i need more and I would like to get another clam I was waiting to see if Kevin was going to put them on sale again $60 each quite hard to keep buying. Looks great though. I plan on doing a water change Monday thats my next day off Sorry to hear about your computer Sherri & I have had our trouble with our Sony as well..Jeff
