April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The passionate desire of aquarists in the Pacific Northwest has made a new MAX show a reality!

After careful study and consideration, we finally decided to grant the request of clubs and hobbyists who have long petitioned for a Marine Aquarium Expo in their corner of the country.

"SEAMAX" will debut in Seattle, WA on July 23-24, 2011 at the Seattle Center. Strategically placed in the center of the largest city of the Pacific Northwest, SEAMAX is anticipated to reach hobbyists and businesses throughout the entire PNW region.

The Seattle area is conveniently surrounded by large metropolitan areas such as Portland OR, Vancouver BC and neighboring states of Idaho and Montana.

The Seattle Center
Main Exhibition Hall
305 Harrison St.  Seattle, WA 98109.

[/CENTER]

Seattle Center:
The Seattle Center is a cultural park that hosts the site of the famous Space Needle, International Fountain, performances by internationally acclaimed theater, ballet, and opera companies.

Seattle’s best hotels, shopping and restaurants are located just steps away in the Queen Anne neighborhood or accessed by a two-minute ride downtown on the iconic Seattle Center monorail.  SeaTac International Airport is only 18 miles away and can be easily accessed by public transportation.

Important Facts:
-  SEAMAX will take place in the 34,000 sq. ft. Exhibit Hall
-  Standard 10'x10' booths will be only $750 plus $50 (elect)
-  Attendance is estimated to be 1,000+ attendees
-  Exhibitor setup will be Friday July 22, 2011
-  Registration will take place in order of responses received.
-  Booth fees are due February 1, 2011 (Next fiscal year!)

Important:
Please note that this event is completely independent from our Orange County MAX show and will not affect any portion thereof.  MAX will continue every April at the OCFEC as usual.

hi,
I see they have club booths. Don't know the cost but that would be a good way to show support. What do you think?

If you support us, we support you  Smiley

The first six regional clubs that show support for the SEAMAX event will be provided a FREE 10'x10' club booth!

MCSAC is one of those six already on our list

All we ask is that you help spread the word about SEAMAX via word of mouth, thread posts, e-mails, whatever....

Oh, and did I mention that your club booth also includes a complete frag tank system too?
Probably not (oops)   Grin

Yes, you will be provided the following:
- One 10'x10' booth at SEAMAX July 23-24, 2011
- Pipe and Draped 8' backwall and 3' sidewall
- Skirted table with two chairs (or more upon request)
- Free rental frag tank system, with:
* 24"x24"x8" acrylic rimless frag tank
* AquaticLife 150-watt MH Swing-arm light
* Eheim Liberty 250 filter w/carbon inserts
* 150-watt submersible heater
* Multi-plug GFCI Power Center
* Eggcrate plastic bottom (to hold frag plugs)
* Digital Aquatics ReefKeeper Lite controller
* 8" acrylic photo/viewing box
* Digital thermometer, plastic tongs, other items
* Unlimited saltwater

The reasoning is expressed quite simply in our motto:

"We Do What We Do for People Like You"

hey Kevin,
     Can I ask you to bump Chris Brightwell?  I should say Brightwell Aquatics.     He is another friend I am hoping to see along with Adam Blondell in the Northwest.    I am asking a lot I am sure.   But I am very excited to hear about this and very much looking forward to it.

thank you very much for bringing this to The Pacific Northwest!  There are a lot of good people working together!

sincerely,
Ed Hahn Smiley

Brightwell will not likely attend SEAMAX, sorry.

There are many more supportive businesses that WILL be at SEAMAX to support you in the Pacific Northwest.
I would hope that hobbyists in the Pacific Northwest return the favor by supporting those who have signed up already.
I cannot convey enough how important it is that everyone recognize the significance of this gesture.

These businesses are investing literally thousands of dollars "sight unseen" in trusting our good judgement about SEAMAX.

BTW,
I have heard nothing official in regards to this club manning a booth at SEAMAX.

We have one tentatively on reserve but this is only temporary.

Please forward the contact information of a designated contact person to:

Info@MarineAquariumExpo if interested.  If not, please advise.

There is a thread started in Members only.    I need to find out for sure who  is going to this Event.   Stace and I are going unless something changes in Family.   Please send a pm on Members only or on Here if you plan on going. Kevin has established a booth for us.    We are still working together with other clubs.  Having MCMAC  has established roots with other people across the state of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, etc.
I have heard a lot of yes at the club meetings.  I hope you follow through.  This is will be a awesome event and a chance to educate people about our club, sell frags, etc.  You know this event will also give you a heads up on methods, new equipment, products available, sales, speakers, not to mention time with people we have grown to love sharing the hobby with over the years.

Thanks Ed,
Please remember that we also fully encourage sales from your booth to help support your club.  We've donated a full booth with rental frag tank for the purpose of supporting your efforts in the marine aquarium hobby.  All we ask is that you help spread the word and hopefully get as many people through that door as humanly possible.  Remember, the vendors of SEA-MAX (and many others who are NOT present) will be watching this event very closely to determine if the Pacific Northwest is worth their efforts for future events.
July 23-24, 2011 is VERY KEY as to the direction of possible future events.  Also remember the dozens of committed exhibitors who are traveling clear across the country to show you their latest and greatest wares.  Please come out and support this industry to the fullest extent possible.   Bring a few friends and/or family members too..

Thanks again!

HI Everyone!

I trust you all had a great Christmas with family and friends and are now gearing up for the New Year!
I just wanted to throw out an early recon to see if anyone had any imagery/drawings/sketches/graphics they'd like to share for the SEA-MAX effort?
We have not yet created a logo or promotioanal image specific to SEA-MAX (to be used for postcards, flyers, posters, etc.)
If anyone has any artistic talent or simple ideas they'd like to volunteer, we'd love to see them.
Please e-mail us at: info@MarineAquariumExpo.com
thank you!
