January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

Hey all, I am looking to pick up some bottom cleaners and some new tank fish/corals to start with for my 92gallon tank.

Does anyone have recomendations or critters they want to sell/trade.

Thanks
Daniel

PS I hope to meet all of you at the meeting this month end.

how long has the tank been up?  If it's only been a week or two, you shouldn't be putting anything in until you verify your ammonia and nitrate spike (cycle) have subsided.  Once you get through that, get some snails (and crabs if you want them), and a few small hardy fish (do your research, you want to limit the aggressive fish added in the beginning so they don't terrorize later additions).  If they survive without issue and your levels don't get out of wack, then you should be able to start slowly adding other livestock.

tank has been up for a week with a jumpstart addative and rock directly from one tank to this one so I am hopeing that it won't go massively out of whack.  We added 3 Chromis as the hardy fish *cringe* and about 10 small cleaners to get things started.

Keep an eye on the levels, you can still have a cycle.  But, most likely water changes will keep it minimal and/or allow you to recover from a spike if you stay on top of the testing.  I suggest keeping a 20% water change made up and ready all the time.  That way if you notice a problem, you are ready to fix ASAP.

Sounds like you are on the right track with the starter fish and such.  I'd give it about a month before you start adding anything that costs very much.
