January Meeting 1/14/12 @ 6PM! - OFFICER ELECTIONS!

Beau is hosting the January Meeting this coming Saturday the 14th at 6PM.  It will be BYOB as well as a snack to share and raffle items are always welcome.  It has been requested that there be “NO SHOES” on the carpet due to it being a whitish color.

He doesn’t have a tank to view but we will have plenty to discuss in hopes that it will get the NEW YEAR off to a good start.  The annual membership fees are due, so now would be a good time to get them in to our Treasurer Stacey Hahn.   Fees are $20 per individual or $25 per family

Attendance was low at the election meeting in November and no votes were taken at December’s meeting so we have decided to take votes for anyone that didn’t get the opportunity in November and will be attending this meeting.
We will add the votes to November’s ballots and the announcement will be made during the meeting so we can go forward.
NOMINATIONS:
President:  Jim & Nacho
V. President: Ed, Bo & Daniel Leigey
Treasurer: Stacey
Secretary: Carmen & Angie

Let’s hope the New Year brings new members, returning members and new ideas.  The club is always willing to take suggestions to get the most out of the hobby we all enjoy.

Please PM Nate C. by clicking here for directions if you are not a club member.

Club members can click here to go to the club member only forum to get directions.

Hope to see you all there!

So my friend owes me some money and I have decided to trade her the cash for her 26gal Nano tank!  I would like to set it up for seahorses!  She has a seahorse in it now and is willing to give him to me with the tank.  However I know he can't go into my 120 while I get the 26 up and running and stable enough for him to live in!  So I have a few questions.....Does anyone have a place for me to keep him IF I move him up here until I get his tank up and running Or do you think he can live in my sump?  Second does anyone see any complications with moving a seahorse in this weather?  What kind of precautions should I take to move him?

I wouldn't keep it in your sump. Why can't you transport the tank at the same time you transport the livestock? Nate should have some very good pointers on how to do this successfully over short or long distances. What type of seahorse is it?

I will be transporting at the same time!  I just wont have the tank set up in order for him to go in right away!  I know he cant stay in a bag for very long!  I am not sure what kind of seahorse he is but I will find out!

Talk to Nate, he should be able to tell you how to transport everything in a way that will allow you to have it all setup and running including having the seahorse in it the day you arrive and not have ill effects from the move.

You'll be better off talking to Colleen on that.  We were talking about that a few months ago (as we were settling into the new tank), We've moved tanks a minimum of 9 times since 2001 (6 times since 2004).  Out of those moves, we've lost a grand total of I think 3 fish - and that was the time that I made a few of the decisions while she was running other errands. Undecided

I was planning to do it this weekend but due to finances I couldn't make it down to central Oregon.  So in the next few weeks I think I will go down to pick it up!  My guess would be only a week or 2

One other option for you.  I have refugium full of pods and chaeto.  there would be plenty of natural food for the seahorse in the refugium.

This seahorse was born in captivity and does fine with frozen foods too!  Thanks for all the help.  I will find out what kind he is and when I am going to get him!
