My name is Shonelle, and my husband and I have recently moved from Ellensburg because of his job.  We don't really know anyone here though, so I needed help finding out how to submit an "official membership form".  If this is a bad idea, someone please throw themselves in front of me screaming "don't do it"!!! LOL.

On a more serious note, we're starting our second saltwater tank, as we had to leave our first behind.  Our "new" tank is a 55 gal. on a black stand, with two boring 15" lights, two on the back filters, 4" of sand, and 53ish gallons of saltwater.  We don't have any rock or fish yet, although we hope to begin to remedy that within the next few days.

Our ultimate goal for this tank is to allow me to raise seahorses, and potentially a few smaller fish.  My husband and I are also looking to start a second tank that would likely be a coral reef tank, potentially with some fish.

I have been keeping fish since I was very young, however, I've only been involved in salt for the last two years.

Welcome!  We're a good group.  Come to the next meeting and you'll be able to sign up to be a club member then.

There are several members here that have done seahorse tanks in the club.  Not sure how many have them right now though - require a LOT of work.  We won't be at the next meeting, but look forward to meeting you at a meeting in the near future.   Smiley

Working as one to promote anyone willing to learn

« Reply #2 on: August 04, 2009, 08:05:15 am »

I have gone to a Seahorse presention in Seattle.   I am no expert but I am willing to share what I learned about each seahorse.   I have a seahorse tank waiting to be set up.

Here are things I learned in brief.
Seahorses need things to cling on to to feed, corals like SPS sting seahorses, when a seahorse is stung they cling like we do with electricity. So you want to cover your heater with a sleeve.  Very few fish are compatible with seahorses. They need to be fed daily, etc.

Nice to see you Smiley
