April meeting 4/14 @ 7PM - Grant's house

Laura and Jim will be hosting the May meeting this Saturday the 12th and it will be the usual of food, drinks, raffle and fun.

Doors will be open at 6:00 pm for social talk and the meeting will start at 7:00.  Parking gets a little tight and the city says you can't park on 4th but there is a parking lot a block away.   Meeting is usually held in the backyard so feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair, weather permitting of course.

If you need address/directions, contact a club member.

Best if you park at Mini Mall (where the spaghetti establishment use to be)

You will get to see his new frag tank set up in the making.

Hope to see you there!

Just wanted to Say Hi and see what is going on with the Reef community in the Tri-Cities.

I'll be moving back to Kennewick after 10 years away in July..
We are Currently in Colorado

I've had reef tanks for 8 years..  Right now I have a 36" 65g tank.
We are working on moving into a 125RR acrylic tank.

At this point I don't know if I want to try and move the coral and fish or sell the livestock then start over when we get there.

We do have a plan for moving live coral and fish over a 2 day run to Washington.
It mostly involves power heads, heaters mounted in a large cooler and run by  a power inverter while in the car.
Battery powered air pumps while the car is off and hauling it all into the hotel on the one overnight stop.

I hope to meet you all at a meeting soon..

Thanks

We certainly have a good group of members that enjoy this hobby in our area.

We always welcome those interested in attending meetings and possibly joining the club to share what we all enjoy as a group.

Let us know when you're settled in and ready to attend and we will let you know the details on when and where the next meeting will be held.

Good luck and have a safe trip.

Look forward to meeting you!

Your plan for getting things here sounds resonable to me.  If will have air, circulation and heat, things should be fine for the drive.  You might want to try to take the tops off and let them get some light when you are stopped for lunch or a break if you can, that'd be the only missing ingredient I see.

Yeah light would be good..

A couple moon lights in the cooler wouldn't be a bad idea either.
I wonder if anyone else has built a "Reef Cooler"

Another option may be to ship them to one of us active members in the club and have us hold them for you until you get here.  By July, we should have a q-tank up and going in the new house.  We could likely receive your stuff and hold it until you got here....just throwing ideas out there for you.

It would tend to reduce the strange stares you get when carrying styrofoam coolers into hotels at night.   Grin

Well folks it's been more then 6 months but it looks like I'll be back in the SW game soon..

Space got tight for the move so we ended up selling out all the fish gear before moving so I'm starting over again..

I didn't plan on setting up a tank in the middle of the winter but we got a deal off craigslist we couldn't refuse.

We picked up a 55 w stand, hood, 50lbs of live rock 6x65w PC's, 10gal sump, skimmer and the usual pile of accessories... 55 isn't my favorite choice but it'll do for now..

time to scrub the tank!
